6400 shift point, 3.73 gears, 28inch radials, and a triple disk FTI that does get locked at track.
I forgot to drop it to D, vs [D] last time I raced the car, should I always leave it in D or does the lower gear help the turbo? (old T4 t76gts)

I did as well. FWIW I had 3.73's, 28" tire, 6200rpm redline and ran out of gear about 135-138mph. I was running base pressure of 10psi at the time because I was crossing the traps right at the limiter so I couldn't bump up the boost. I've since gone 3.54's and 7000rpm which should allow me to do some full boost passes.
Check the gear calc. http://www.f-body.org/gears/
Based off of the info above you should be around 143mph at the top of 3rd. run low boost to see where you are and go from there.

Same here with the s60. Hindsight is 20/20 and I would have gone 9" just to have more options. You can get more mph otherwise though. If you can push a little more RPM that will help as well. For example if you go with a 3.54 gear and bump up to 6600rpm you are looking at 155ish mph at the top of 3rd on a 28" tire

If you're making any kind of power, always keep it in D. It's not something that can be controlled via the tune either. When the selector is in D, the overrun clutches are on which takes the load off the overdrive roller clutch. When OD is selected, regardless of what gear the transmission is in, the overrun clutches are off and all of the power goes through the overdrive roller.

We've blown one up on the dyno due to the operator running it in 4th at 1000whp.
