Default Exhaust system sizing

Will a dual 2.5" system with straight-through muffs be OK connected to a 3.5 to 4" downpipe? I haven't really seen a 3" system for my Mustang unless you go custom, and I'm not sure if I need the weight and expense of a 3" system. I do have a 3.5" downpipe that may end up being a 4" at some point.

Why not just run a single to the axle?

I ran 4" to the axle, then into a muffler that was 4" dual 3" out. I am happy with how it came out.

I don't think I can get 1 large enough muffler to keep it as quiet as I would like, so I think I need 2. Mustangs don't seem to have a whole lot of room back there.

The turbo is a muffler within itself. Turbo cars are quiet.
