Default Serpentine Belt Issues w/ Huron Speed Kit Brackets

Car tossed a belt literally a day after being on the dyno (this was a new belt). Replaced the belt and tensioner. Belt already shows signs of wear less than 24 hours after the new belt is on. Motor is a 5.3 with LS1 accessories from my old motor. AC has been removed and the belts we have been using are: NAPA 25-06721

Anyone else experienced this? I swear this car is cursed.

Make sure the pulleys are all in alignment, most likely they are slightly off which is causing the belt to walk. Check out the alignment with a laser tool, and get the pulley in alignment using some thin washers as shims. Will cure any belt walking issues!

Mine is doing the same thing right now. It has thrown 2 belts and has now started to shred the one on it now. It is going back to the shop that did the install to see if they can get it all lined up but it is just an alignment issue.

I had a similar problem. Ended up being a bad tensioner. When you look at the pulley it was at a slight slant (only when under tension). Replaced it. Problem solved. Stopped walking belts!

I had a brand new tensioner put on after it hucked the first belt. What we ended up doing was cutting apart and re-welding the alternator relocation bracket because it was slightly ****-eyed. An extra washer for some reason was being used on the new tensioner that was also causing the belt to be off. Don't know why the original shop that put the car together didn't check pulleys with a straight edge but whatever.

Its fixed now and I am happy.

Bringing this back from the dead. Is there any other way around this? I don't really wanna spend $150 for a laser that I'm only going to use once. I tried to check the tensioner and it appears to be ok - its hard to tell. I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this.

Is the Alternator the only thing that has been moved? If so, look at your alternator bracket. Mine had Alternator alignment off enough to throw belts if you gave her gas. Took the alternator off, laid the bracket face down on a straight edge and it was cocked / off by a few degrees up where the alternator mounts to it. I dressed the bracket face with a sanding wheel, taking a little off at at time and viola! the alternator alignment has been good enough to not throw a belt again.

Start with simple troubleshooting. If the crank pulley, PS pump, and tensioner haven't been moved and the alternator has look there first.

Perhaps be more specific about what you're asking.

Is there any way around what ?

I'm sorry for not being clear. I was asking if there was anyway around having to spend $150 for a laser tool to measure belt alignment.

This is no longer an issue. Jon from H/S took care of me.
