Default Vengeance Racing - 650rwhp ZR1 build + HX install

For all that is amazing on the new C7, there is just something about the raw power and absurd torque delivery of the C6 ZR1 that makes it one of our favorite Corvette models of all time. The LS9 is an incredbile piece of engineering in stock form but - let's be serious - stock is never enough!

Our customer Eric came to us from across town and was looking to take his stock ZR1 to the next level while keeping the beast both reliable and drivable. After all, there is no sense in ruining a ZR1 for a couple extra horsepower...

After talking to Eric about his goals, we chose to install a package of bolt-on upgrades which would work together to up the boost and cool the incoming air charge. That last part is essential for maximum fun time and time again.

Modifications:
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) cold-air intake
LPE 2.60-inch upper pulley with a 10-bolt hub
LPE lower pulley
LPE supercharger snout
American Racing 1 7/8” long-tube headers with catalytic converters
Vengeance Racing heat exchanger kit
160-degree thermostat
850cc fuel injectors
Custom dyno and street tuning

Installing the upper pulley and supercharger snout requires the removal of the LS9 supercharger, which is a simple task for an experienced technician.

Increased power production requires an upgrade in the supercharger heat exchanger, and we've worked hard to perfect the VR system for customers looking to track, street drive, race, dyno, or cruise their ZR1s. The VRHX system includes a new 23x17x2-inch heat exchanger, a 20-gpm Meziere pump, Goodyear .750-inch hose, and all of the clamps, connectors, and brackets necessary for a bolt-on installation. You can read ALL ABOUT THE VRHX UPGRADE HERE.

With the heat exchanger, pulleys, upgraded snout, American Racing long-tube headers, and injectors installed, it was time to drop the LPE cold air intake in place and drop the finishing touches into the engine bay.

Results:

Eric's ZR1 put down great power in stock form, laying down 564rwhp and 557rwtq. With the VR touch, power was up 86 rear wheel and torque jumped up over 80 ft-lbs to the back tires. Most importantly, power and torque were up across the entire RPM band and power was repeatable run after run thanks to the upgraded cooling system.
