In the description of the vid it says 20psi. Not bad at all with the automatic, and high elevation.

The car went 6.7 @ 112 1/8th mile with a 1.78 60ft. It only went 10.2 @ 127 1/4 mile because the car hit 27 psi in 3rd gear and lost a bunch of power. I only got 2 passes before the track went away.

Does the turbo seem laggier than you would like, or is it pretty responsive? Seems like it's making decent power.

It spools faster than the gt45 80mm did on my last ls1 camaro. It's decent for $400

Thanks!

I'm kind of teetering for my DOHC 4.4L V8 between trying to fit and support the massive eBay GT45 (68/77 or whatever the normal ones are), or moving to something physically smaller like one of these or even an On3 76mm with a big wastegate to avoid back pressure buildup... Any thoughts?

odd track time. with the 6.7@112 you should have been mid 10's with good power but i think that 27psi actually helped you not the opposite.

Power goal: 550-600rwhp through a 6-speed (manual).
Budget: Sufficient for a decent "China turbo" build. Lol

The car only has 80 lb injectors on e85 and was tuned for 20 psi on the dyno. I never touched the controller and it hit 27 psi in third gear. I wasn't logging but the car fell on its face in third gear. I'm sure it was blowing hot air, running lean and dropping timing at 27 psi. It should pickup around 25-30 mph on the back half of the track. It did trap 130 on the first pass which was a 10.5

The on3 7665 will make 600 all day long on stick car. Not sure what this 4.4 engine is you speak of?

Good info, so the 7665 would be quite a bit more snappy than the 7876, and would still be reasonably efficient at that power level, huh? Thanks for the input!

It's a BMW engine, BTW, but discussion of China turbos on BMW forums doesn't seem to go over very well..... Lol

On3 7665 on my old car. This was the very first setup it had on it.

SBE LQ4, Speed inc. TU1 cam, on3 76mm, 4L80E, Circle-D 3500 converter, stock 10 bolt with 2.73's, E85

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovHWR2Xzkq0

(This video never embeds...)

When I switched to a Turbonetics 7875 the car spool'd the same and made 60 rwhp or so more on the same boost level. Also, power didn't drop off near as hard up top which was to be expected.

These have been out for a while now. I'm wondering who has had a failure or has a few thousand miles on one with no problems.

There are threads all over the web about on3 turbos but very few posts about how long they have lasted.

Been rocking one for over a year now...no problems! probably 5000 miles on it. Spool is nasty fast on my 5.3. Running 17psi . The only complaint I have is this thing is whisper quiet, absolutely no turbine whine.

Thanks man. 5000 miles is pretty good so far. I might just spend the extra $900 for a ball bearing turbonetics 7875. If they were selling them in journal bearing for $800 I wouldn't even bother with the on3.

If enough people have 4,000-5,000 miles on an on3 turbo I'd be willing to run one and save the money. If many are failing under 3,000 miles I'll just spend the money for a better turbo the first time.

There's just something appealing about making cheap stuff work though lol.

question for you guys. out of this on3 7875 and a New billet SXE 369 which do you guys think will be capable of making more power out of a 4.8/5.3?

sure the on3 has a 78mm wheel but a billet 69mm ought to flow just as good

difference in turbine wheel is not much either and if i had to bet, even though the borg warner is smaller, it likely flows more

SXE 369 specs

Compressor wheel 69x91.44
Turbine wheel 73x80

i believe i read it flows somewhere around 96lb/m so roughly 900-1000hp capable.

S369 with those specs you're naming will sht all over the on3, maybe a little more BP at same power level, but the 4.8 should cure that, although I doubt it'll make 1000

yea 1000 will be doubtful but i would think 800 to the tire could be possible and come on like a light switch. i can get one for about 800 shipped so i might consider it over a big s475 with t4 housing which will probably be more expensive and harder to package!
