Im trying to understand why the rods bent.
My stick combo touches the high side limiter for just under a .10 of a second on every shift( 4 times through a run). I have not had any issues yet.
I cant see how being on the limiter could have done this unless you were on it for a LONG time?
Do you have any other clues as to why this happened?

I think it happened because at some point stock rods bend. Just because mine did doesn't mean yours will.
I was deff on the limiter a lot longer than .1 haha Still not sure that matters simply a variable.
As stated above I made 1004 ftlbs and I was running a good amount more boost on this pass. Cyl pressure at pk tq is a likely cause.

I can text you a picture of the rods if you want. the bend is very minor just enough that I think the noise was from it clanking on the end of the wrist pin. With the oil pan off there was one spot in the rotation where it was tight and I could see it happening. Was cyl #5
Everything else inside the motor looks excellent. I am going to have the block/crank checked professionally to be sure but I don't see any damage to the bearings, pistons, crank, etc.
Even with making the noise it had perfect oil pressure and wasn't smoking at all, ran smooth just was ticking loud enough that I knew something was up.

Sorry to see this happen but atleast you got allot of good miles of smiles from it. Like you I dont think the RPMs on the limiter is what got you because I would think that the low and mid rpm TQ is what would bend them. One thing I do wonder is that sitting on the limiter I wonder if it was getting some sort of hydro lock type situation where it would kill the ignition but still pumping fuel so when that cylinder did fire it was to much?
If your 60 foot was where it should be you would have been well into the 8s.
Either way it ran great !

Yeah I am going to give it another shot. It could have been the trans having issues and slipping too which is what Yank thinks. I have a much more stout glide with a 1.8 straight cut gear set behind it now.
Hopefully that is what it was causing it to slip!
