I will say it goes down the track dead straight will less power. On gate, and 15 psi (went 10.5@146 with 15psi in 3-5th) its not nearly as hairy. High boost was set between 17-18 this day, and its obviously a different animal with 100ish more HP.

So I figured between the car overheating from the fan switch failure at the track, and the full geechie runs on he way home, it was time to take a look at the head gasket. What I found may shock you-
PAPER GASKETS?!?!? LOL. Yes, I was making near 1000chp on a paper gasket and stock bolts from 1998
** I just want to note how PERFECT the piston looks- all the credit in the world to Erik@backstreetper.com for literally the worlds best LS1 tune!! i beat the **** out of this poor thing, and the piston looks mint and shows no signs of knock.**
And here you can clearly see where the HG pushed into the coolant passege, and torched the gasket. This is on #8
But wait, there's more!
from #7 intake
I am assuming thats not normal? LOL Yup, went 10.3@136 coasting in neutral with THIS ****-lol.

Im thinking so. I've been 50/50 on tossing in a cam I garbage picked (affectionately called the trash cam) from a motor part out at a local shop.
I'm leaning towards leaving the stock cam, tossing on gaskets-push rods-tossing on a set of heads I picked up for dirt that have springs- and bumping the limiter to 6600 for the rest of the year. I am holding off on the gaskets until I get the surface cleaned and check for flatness-if its wonky im going back to composite gaskets.
Been hectic with work and family lately-and I will be out of town on and off the next few weeks, but i'd like to have it fired back up by 9/18 if at all possible.

I forget which year engine you have, but usually anything with composite gaskets (853 or earlier head) had a notch on the head deck which will not seal with a GM MLS gasket except for a Victor Reinz aftermarket. Sounds like you might have a newer style head to use though which you will be fine then.

I will make that call when I get the deck cleaned up and take a straight edge to everything.

Finally had some time to get this thing back together.
First-I wanted to make some improvements while I had the top end off. Needed to reworked the vacuum system-so I "tapped" another barb into the back vacuum block. Now, everything has a separate boost reference source. This is very important, and often overlooked for most FI builds.
Onto the head improvements. Picked up a set of 703's (or so I thought, read on) for dirty cheap WITH dual springs (unknown brand or mileage, hence the just above scrap price) so I had the valve springs covered. China head studs from Jegs for $95, and I also was gifted a set of Comp 7.4 pushrods from a road Race team that just changed a set and was going to toss them! Thanks guys! Time for an MLS and more RPM.
Cleaned things up a bit
And get ready to install the 35$ a pair (not even kidding) GM MLS gaskets when I see...
THEY ARE NOTCHED HEADS?!?!?!?!? WTF?? These are not 703s! The numbers are ground off-but after looking around they are stock Ls1 heads. If you have no idea what I am talking about-read here http://www.ls1.com/forums/f7/mls-hea...et-woes-89964/
So according to the internet, I cant use these heads with a GM MLS. If fact, I'd have to put paper gaskets back on to use ANY notch head. I'm pissed! Its 2am I went inside and had a beer.)

remembered what this whole car is about-throwing caution to the wind and pushing the limits. So, I grabbed my trusty can on Indian Head and went to town.
I have used this crap to seal head gasket jobs that 100% should not work- and it has never failed me. Why stop now?
Note the extra sauce around that infamous "notch".
In goes the MLS, and I take the China studs until they felt "tight enough". Its about a 1/4 turn past 80 ft lbs-its a funny spot where they don’t want to turn anymore. Anyone who has put studs in multiple applications knows what I’m talking about.
Cleaned up the header gaskets with some sand paper

And slammed her back together.
I am happy to report- 150 miles and many, many pulls later NO LEAKS.

Your car runs great though! I bet it would run low 10's or high 9's on a good pass @ mid 130's with a full bottle.
