The other cheap thing you can do is pull the tank drain and install a fitting there. Then run that to 1 or 2 inline walbros and "T" it into the feed. I installed a pickup in place of the factory pump hangar to get around the annoying baffle setup... worked pretty good.

Good luck!
Very nice, but you have more in fittings than I have into the whole fuel system, injectors included!

I'm going to stay away from E85 for a while. On gas, I should be good to 850-900whp with some tweaks. Also, I have had nothing but bad luck in terms on longevity with E85, especially on older cars \unless all fuel system components are new. I used E on my last RX-7, and went though 3 pumps, and multiple clogged fuel filters in one season.

If/when I outgrow this fuel system, I will either go to a surge tank set up with multiple 044s, or get a cheap summit cell and re-run 1/2 hard line and have enough fuel for 1000whp on E. The largest cost is injector, though. I am just screwed if I want to make any real power on E85.

94 Pump, and Cam2 (110) is plentiful here. There are 2 gas stations within 20 minutes that have 110 so I am comfortable pushing this set up on gas.

I get the whole budget thing believe me. All the fittings were cheap China stuff from E-bay, not much money in it. (can’t beat free though) Not sure why I thought you were going E85. You’ve got tons-O-fuel for pump gas.

80’s can go pretty far with pressure. Skinnies 5.3 made 850ish on a mustang dyno on 80lb injectors on E85. 3 255HP walbros, 96lbs of total fuel pressure. Turned up the boost up a bit after the dyno as well.

Off topic a bit but how are those racetronix injectors holding up to E85? I have the 160's and they run like a small injector, I couldn't be happier. However they haven't seen corn yet and I'm curious if they will hold up.

I

I thought that was E50? Either way that impressive!

I agree. Hell I have gone 9's on 4 650's in a 4 banger. Total pressure was probably around 110psi

I like E a lot, i just wont use it anymore mixed with 20+ year old fuel components (tanks/lines/ect) also, the next "step" after this is 1000 RWHP (or whatever the overall stock LS based record is.

I have to start this with a big thanks to Erik at http://backstreetper.com/ for the time, knowledge, and super safe tune. I will have zero hesitation laying into this thing every time I get it out.

Well after fixing some stuff, finding more broken stuff, and adding more zip ties, we managed to make some power pulls.

On gate-8psi-540whp

at 14.8 psi (202 logged KPA) it made 736whp/654 trq. Full spool happened around 4800 in 4th (410 rear gear/T56). Honestly surprised how much HP per PSI this think was picking up. It was already a long night and we had not drank enough to throw 20+psi at it, so we called it a night. But, I think the stock LS1 record would have been in serious jeopardy!

The car comes on boost like its making 1000whp. It runs and sounds ridiculous. I am 100% happy with the outcome, and still have a lot of cleaning up and improving to do with the bay and the harness. This is still a 100% bone stock Ls1, so I think it would be good to shoot for 850+ when I install my "trash-Cam" and a set of valve springs.

Videos soon-my go pro died but I think Jerry got a few at full song.

Yup. the test drive today was only good for LOL's. Blew the tires off in every gear, including 6th! Yes, rolling into 6th @ full song lit up the tires-but it was 45, and I was on 255 Goodyears (not a DR). Hoping it hooks well in the summer on a 275 from 40.

I have to add it all up, but off the top of my head I am a hair under 5k. I got a great head start in finding a project car someone needed to dump for a quick buck, but you could duplicate it for the same or less with a truck motor.

It will be above freezing for the first time in a few weeks tomorrow so I plan on talking the 100% non working gauge cluster in the car. Also picked up a speed sensor so I will try to make that work too.

Can't wait for spring!!!!

Small updates-

I got most of the gauges working. Now have

Water Temp
Oil Pressure
Volts
RPM (was worried about this one)
Fuel level

And I cant get the VDO speedo to work. I have already went over my alloted time for this-so that will have to wait for later, or never! In the middle of piecing together a full exhaust for the car.....Spring is near!

Time to tackle the exhaust. I had Idea from twin 3inch electric cut outs inch dumps to a single quiet 2.5, to IMSA style rear fender exits. But, I wanted to use as much of what I had as possible, but still be efficient for my long term goals, and keep it in the budget. Well, out came this.

Twin 3's into a full 4 inch flop a dop pipe.

(Mock up)

Total cost- $28. It fits ridiculously well, and the flex hose is not nearly as flexible as you may think, so it worked out absolutely perfect.

What I love about it,

1)Its 80% scrap-Only thing I purchase was the 4inch flex pipe, and a 4inch band clamp, and gas for the welder.

2) love the way it fits-nice and tight-

3) I can be off the car in 5 Minutes or less. I love having easy access to troubleshoot parts or quick fixes at the track. This will also allow me to take it off in segments on the dyno to see if its a restriction when I turn up the Jam.

Hopefully it sounds as good as other 4 inch systems I have done. Kind of an empty trashcan aggressive situation that would be augmented by the cam that's yet to go into the car.

Next-275 Micky T's for the 17s, tint, and good weather!

Have you actually run flex pipe for any extended period before? If so, that is stellar! Lol

Oh yes, my last RX7 (4G63'd) was half flex pipe'd for almost 2 years. I was going to reuse a portion of that exhaust, but its only 3.5 and I felt I needed more flow for my goals.

Only real downside is weight. Its a little heavier than 18 gauge steel. Another plus I did nto mention is if you are close to hitting something and need some clearance, a quick pry with a screw driver does the trick

If I keep this set up long term, I will rebuild it out of aluminum, but thats far down the line at this point.

Some late night massaging to fit more sticky meat.

And found some scrap 4inch to make a tip and finish the exhaust. Like the way it came out.
