Fuel System for 650rwhp max ls3/l92, turbo
Hey guys,
I will be adding a twin turbo setup to my l92 equipped 1968 Bel Air wagon soon. Current engine is all stock except for ls3 intake.
I suspect i can get 600-650rwhp at 8-10 psi. Ultimately with built engine i would want 750whp....12-15psi.
Current system is:
Stock tank modified with drop-in unit to hold multiple pumps.
Currently one aeromotive 340lph installed intank
-8an output to corvette fpr
-6an return to tank from corvette fpr
-8an to ls3 fuel rail
Ls3 injectors
What injectors do you guys run for these power levels?
Plan is to add a second 340lph aero...good idea? Enough?
Is a boost a pump a must? Battery is rear mount and power to pump is 8 gauge straight from battery...iirc.
The corvette fpr was a temporary solution....i suspect i will need a adjustable boost referenced regulator. Is it a must and what do u use?
Would prefer the solution to cover me for both the 650 and 750rwhp levels.
Thanks.

Are you tuning it on you're own or having it tuned? I'd slap 80 lbs injectors in and see how far it would go if you're tuning it. If not I'd slap a second pump or a walbro 400, 80 lbs injectors, and a regulator because I'd rather not pay for tuning a few times or the down time in between

Not sure if this is the right mind set to have, but I always planned for the future. Rather than buy it twice, just go for broke and give it a mild tune with room to grow.

But since then in order to keep things a little more achievable. I lowered my goals to 750-800whp max. 600-650 on stock bottom end. 750-800whp on forged bottom end later.
So part of the swap was the fuel system I have listed...-8 supply line and the dual pump drop-in for my tank.
I guess my main question is regarding do I have to do anything to my current system(other then injectors) to achieve my initial goal of 600whp. What about 550whp?...that's still a minimum 200whp increase. If I can I will leave everything but injectors alone and be safe, then I will upgrade everything else later on. If the pump is enough, but I have to have a Adj FPR with return, then that also easy.
Its not if I will upgrade it all, but when? What hp level requires the extra pump and adj fpr? The injectors are a no brainer.
Thanks.

I made near 650 on 60lb injectors and a 255 pump but I'm sure that was pretty much maxed out. That fuel setup did great for the few years I had it like that. I'd go w/ the 400 in tank like denmah says or if you plan on e85 then the 450 (correct me if i'm wrong but the 400s arent e85 friendly) so that you have room to grow like everyone is suggesting.
I've currently got my 255 as my primary and a 450 as my secondary feeding bosch 127s with a boost referenced fpr now and almost made it to 850hp on e85 with a stock block. Hopefully that'll get me to 1000hp later on down the road once I start building a forged motor without having to redo those parts although if i need more pump i'll be doing twin 450s.

Thanks for the info guys.
I'm finding the in that the corvette fpr to be severely limiting from a return flow standpoint. But as previously mentioned, I really need a boost ref'd FPR anyway. Curious how many are running remote boost ref'd FPR's? I ran a remote boost ref'd FPR on the One Lap Turbo 3.5v6 Honda Odyssey I built a few years ago and it worked fine and maintained fuel pressure at 19psi and 542whp/455tq. But then again, the gauge was right at the fpr, not the rail.
As far as the pump, still researching the 340lph performance with a BAP. But a BAP cost more than the additional pump will cost....so doesn't seem like a great option. So its really a matter of second pump now or later.

This whole thing seems way more complicated than need be. 2 Walbro 255 pumps will make 1000whp 700ish on e85. Need a -8 feed line and -6 return line front fpr. Give me a call I can help you set it up properly for your needs.
