No, will not be able to withstand what the Derale fans pull. Simply follow the included diagram that came with the fans and it will work out well! Find the factory trigger wire (usually dark blue) so the PCM kicks the fans on just as it would factory.

I have another question on this if anyone can help. So far I've wired my fans as so:
30 Red to Batt (using post by fuse box)
87 Orange to Fan power
86 Yellow to 12V +
85 Black on Derale fan 1 relay, to dark green wire off back of the factory relay box, "fan 1" relay
But I've noticed in the back of the factory relay box, "fan 2" relay AND "fan 3" relay both have a dark blue wire. I traced them back a little ways in the loom and it doesn't look like they splice together within a few feet of the box. So I'm not sure which one I should run to my Derale fan 2. I've looked at some wiring schematics in my Chiltons manual but I'm not sure. I guess my biggest concern is that I already cut both blues from the back of the factory relay box, and want to make sure it's not gonna hurt something.
Also, does anyone have a good link to how you programmed them in the ECU to work?

This is how I have mine wired:
I completely ripped all of the factory fan wiring and fuses from the fuse box. Then I like to wire the two triggers wires off the relay together and tap them into the high speed fan trigger controlled by the pcm. The high speed trigger wire is dark blue and is located in the loom that runs by the hood latch. The tps wire is also dark blue and runs in the same location so you have to make sure the right wire is tapped. This setup turns on both fans at the same time. Also, if using the Derale relays chop off the extra green wire.

Fan2&Fan3 both work off the same dark blue trigger (ECU pin 28), so they must just merge to 1 wire further in the loom than I've found. Anyway, thanks for the help Hopefully I'll have this straightened out soon lol.

I just went through a bunch of this when i installed twin electric fans in my 80 Z28. The factory on F-bodies will run 3 relays. That is how i wired mine in. It also uses 2 fuses. ONe is a 10 amp and one is a 40 amp. Yes the dark blue wire ties in together in the harness somewhere. They do trigger relays 2 and three. As i see it they use the three relays to run the fans in series or in parallel for high and low speed.

I did a little digging and found I was counting from the wrong direction. Fan1's factory trigger was dark green, and according to this
