I'm sure this has been asked many times before. I would assume this would be the first thing anyone that's looking into a turbo setup with similar goals as mine would like to know, but for the life of me I can't seem to find any info. Maybe I'm using the wrong search phrases. Also, shouldn't there be a sticky on something like this? Something labeled "turbo sizes" perhaps.

Anyway...

1150rwhp is my goal. I would like to make that on a 408 iron block. Car will be a DD that will be street and track raced now and then.

As of now, I'm thinking of a twin setup as my research points in that direction...logic being quicker spool thus more ideal in under 1/4 races.
But I'm no expert and obviously I'm still learning so if any of what I am saying is flawed...please feel free to correct me.

So yeah...basically looking for advice on a) what size turbo to get for my goal and b) single or twin, for my goal.

Thanks a lot in advance!

BTW...Car is a GTO.

Any 80mm turbo will get u that. Even some 76 mm turbos. Like Jose from forced inductions gangster 76 have gone bottom 8 on stock 6.0s. Im building my car for class racing but I bought a gt4708 which is an 80mm and that's the largest turbo u can run in the class. Seen guys go anywhere from 5.0 to 4.9 in the 1/8 with this turbo

The smallest I would do would be a 80/96mm Borg Warner. For a 408 I would personally choose a S484 from F.I.

But with this smaller turbos, aren't you guys running out of steam higher up in the rpms? And I'm assuming this is done on t6 set ups as I've told by sponsors here to stay away from t4s due to that power drop off

I would be worried about back pressure with a 92 (actually 86mm turbine, BW measures the inducer and not exducer). You could get away with the 80/92, but the 80/96 would be better suited.

i dont drive around rocking 20-25 psi all the time lol. the max effort power this turbo can put out is way too much for the street but the instant spool is im portant. when i go all out on this motor it will get a GT55 and baller heads.
