Default Cars that came factory super/turbocharged

Hey guys so I'm looking to put a turbo on an ly6 engine. I though I may be able to go the cheap route and see if there was some factory forced induction motors with VVT that I could ****** the cam out of. Anyone know of anything compatible with an ly6 motor with VVT?

Performance and VVT shouldn't go into the same sentence. Otherwise, LS9.

Why do that? Just get a on3 turbo kit with a ON3 snail or get a BW turbo.

I take it you don't get out much? 5 years ago this might've been true on LS motors. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, this has never been true.

Totally agree! After all who wouldn't want a wider spread of torque across the rev range? Especially in a FI application on the street! Why do you think OEMs spend millions developing these features? It's not just for ***** and giggles you know.

I can see if you are an out and out racer were you have VERY specific and limited requirements, why it wouldn't be needed. But for the average guy it could have huge advantages. Like making that big t6 'feel' like a t4 low down.

Well from looking around the only factory supercharged cars I see are the LS9 and LSA and it doesn't seem either have VVT, but the new corvette LT1 and the camaro L99 have VVT. Not sure if either of these stock cams would be worth swapping to (or if the LT1 cam even fits). The only downfall I see to VVT is that you can't run super strong springs or the VVT wont have enough power to turn the cam.

The new vette lt1 is direct injection and has another lobe on the cam to run the fuel pump.

Oh I get out quite a bit. Go over to Camaro5, Performance Trucks, any G8 GT/GXP Forums and tell me how many of those guys keep the VVT and DOD? Not very many. Its simpler to get rid of it all and run a regular camshaft.

It might be simpler but to say its 'better' to ditch the functionality is not correct. VVT can bring some great advantages, esp on boosted applications.
