Default Procharger vs turbo (6 speed)

Hey guys, I have decided to convert my trans am to a 6 speed. I miss the 3rd pedal. I have no desire to run any faster than 11.49 because i dont want to put in a cage. I am really wanting to do the new huron speed a/c ratinings single turbo kit, but i also could do a procharger kit which i currently have been trying to sell. Since i have decided to swap to 6 speed i am wondering if the procharger would be the better route? It comes down to sound, Ik they will both make awesome power... I think the turbo sounds is also but the procharger with a 6 speed also sounds awesome with the big red race valve. what do you guys think?

Build is a 5.3L l33 ported 243 heads & either turbo or procharger mild camshaft. about 9.7:1 compression. e85

If it were me, I'd have kept the Procharger. Instant power that will carry as far as you've got the ***** to stay in it, and the sound of a Procharged LSx is about as good as it gets. Nothing wrong with a turbo setup either when done right. I guess what I'm trying to say is you really can't lose.

Really my only concern is not being able to spool off the line with the 6 speed and turbo

A custom cam and the right turbo will make that a non-issue.

Having ridden in a 650whp procharged lt1 6 speed (really no difference at that point between engines), I can honestly say I was not impressed. It was so boring to me I would rather ride in a h/c ls1 with 200whp less. It was very lackluster.

I have not been in a 6 speed turbo car yet but the auto one I was in felt pretty decent especially compared to the procharger car.

What did you not care for about the pro charged car. What makes the heads/cam car more exciting.

seems like If you hook a two step to either the clutch peddle or the e brake lever or something you could make boost with no load..
of course the right turbo and cam would also help..

Thinking I would provably be happier with a 4l80e from jakes transmission and a turbo. Another reason for wanting turbo is to be able to adjust boost levels with a controller.

haven't been in that many super charged cars but with a stick the power delivery is much more linear than with turbos

but I would go turbo with the 4l80e FTW

My car hits the tires pretty hard when the boost comes in. I can ramp it in as slow or fast as I want it though - which can't be said for a procharged car.

Seems like you need to decide what you want before you go buying parts. a Jakes 4L80 is going to set you back quite a bit. Ask me how i know haha

your right.... hard decisions! Really what happend was i was completely set on procharger until just recently. I was bored and searching around to see if there were turbo kits available to retain factory a/c and other factory options. I cam accross the huron speed kit which sounded like a good kit, then I found out they are working on a new and improved kit that will be available this fall. This is what really changed my mind!
