Default LQ4 with F1X Camaro project no more(selling parts), switching to C5Z and YSI

Hey everyone. I've been lurking around this section for the last few years. Finally able to start the forced induction setup I've been wanting to do for a while now. I don't have any pictures to show other than the Camaro being torn apart right now. The current tasks in the works is swapping to a T-56, 385ci LQ4, F1X Procharger and lightening the car up a bit with anything not needed. Vengeance Racing is the shop that is doing the majority of the build due to very little time and space available. The shortblock was built by Grimes Machine Shop. The main venues this is being built for is 1/2 mile and 1 mile racing. I'm trying to go in a different route than all the normal engine displacements and typical setups. That is one reason I went with the F1X and not the turbo. I'll try to get some pictures and updates as everything comes along. The plan is to be done within the next 12 months.

Kevin at Vengeance Racing referred me to Dan Schoneck for the bracket. From what I understand, it mounts it low to where fitment shouldn't be an issue.

Sounds like a killer build. Love seeing Procharger builds in the FI section. Not too many, but the ones thar are on here are pretty bad ***.

Thanks. I'm pretty excited about the build. It kind of sucks that I won't be able to do the whole build myself. I'm working massive amounts of overtime to get it done as quick as possible.

On a side note, a couple more items that are slated for the setup include TrickFlo 235 heads and a Holley Midrise intake. I can't remember the specs on the cam right off the top of my head, but it is pretty nasty.

Doing it slow and as you save money is the way to go. Will be even sweeter in the end.

It has to be done by September 2015 for Georgia's WannaGofast. A friend of mine just picked up a TVS 2300 for his 2014 Mustang GT. I can't let him outrun me. He hasn't been able to out run me yet. He isn't slated to have it installed until a week or two after this year's WannaGofast.

Doubt you'll have any trouble with him. Not with that F1X.

That F-1X will barely be spinning to keep the boost down for a 4 bolt bolt block/head combination. It'll be interesting to see how it works out for you. Bob

A guy on the corvette forum just made 1325rwhp with an F1X. That was on 30lbs and C16. They put a restrictor in it and cut it to 25 psi up top and it made 1200hp on pump gas/meth..

I think a wastegate setup would be killer on an X. Pulley it to the max speed so you get good spool up and midrange and let the gate limit the boost up top..

I may do an X in the future as well..

No doubt you're in good hands with Vengeance...

Dash is all ripped out to get rid of heater core. Don't plan on needing it. It will only be a nice weather car when complete.

Dropping the engine and auto transmission. They are slated to go into either a '58 El Camino or a Gasser of some sort.

Removed windshield wiper. I'll have to keep an eye on the weather.

Engine and transmission is out. Thanks to a friend for help near the end.

A blurry picture of the BMR K-Member

Some progress on the T-56 swap. Pedals are in.

The 385ci LQ4 machine work from Grimes Machine Shop is done and about to start getting assembled at Vengeance Racing.

This is still in the works. There have been a few changes to the plans. This will run off of E85 and meth. The cam is also being switched out for a bigger one all around. Changing the intake manifold and exhaust setup. This might be done by Sept 2015.

Sweet man! Have you thought about at least going with 1/2" head studs? That F1X will sneeze and make 1200 lol

I'm going to see what I can do with this block. This is more to get the project going. After everything is going and most of the setup is complete, there will probably be an even bigger displacement engine. I also didn't think about this when I had the engine at the machine shop. We are using the ARP head studs. If the heads start pushing, it will just have to be turned down a little.

Thanks, it has all the dents and dings you would expect out of an ex-highway patrol car.

Ordered some new parts. Decided E-85 is the fuel of use. ID2000 injectors have been obtained for the setup. Still deciding on the rest of the fuel system, hopefully will start ordering those items within the next week or two. Also decided to go with the Hi-rise intake instead of the mid-rise from Holley. Still waiting on the Schoneck bracket to arrive. The F-1X is present and accounted for. BMR sway bars and Nick Williams 102 throttle body are on order. Transmission items will be ordered with tax return. Just a little update.
