Default 5.3 Capri (ljms cam, gt45-80mm th400 microsquirt) 690whp

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69xU...ature=youtu.be

my friend tims car
the china 80mm is great for 650whp ish area, it falls off hard after 660whp
we went from 16 psi = 650-660 back to back

to 21ish and only picked up 30whp

the MOST ive ever made was 697whp with one of these turbos on a 5.3

car should roll!

Man perfect timing, I was just about to PM you and get your opinion on this turbo. It's like it doesn't really out perform the 68mm gt45 huh? Guess I'll stick with my plans to get a s475. The 80 just would have been a nice direct swap with my current gt45.

Capri is awesome by the way, but you knew that

yeah they seem to be about the same, hp wise, this 80 will eek it out a bit, they have roughly the same turbine

i want to do something similar with a s475 and large exhaust turbine and see how far it can go

Nice budget build. For some reason I thought the 80mm version would have a much bigger advantage over the 65mm version of the turbo.

It has 706 head, pac 1218, cam is custom 227 227 580 something lift I dont think there is anything wrong with it. Sure maybe with a nastier cam, better heads, and better intake it might roll a 700 to 750 but is it really worth the investment? If I was going to spend anywhere close to a grand in go fast parts I'll buy a billet 76 or billet 80 and not dick around with what might make it squeak out 20 to 50 hp.

the 80 and 68mm gt45 have nearly the same size turbine, thats why they are limited to around the same hp

at least thats what i think

Cam was designed with the smaller turbine of the turbo in mind.... Along with the possibility of switching to something with a bigger turbine in the future.... So its a compromise on the situation. I probably could've killed some more overlap and eeked out another 20-30 rwhp from the combo... but that wasn't a priority i was given to work with.

Even so... the car makes 30-40 more rwhp than whats been seen with that unit on a regular basis, so it worked out pretty good.

I agree, I only asked what heads because I didnt know what year the motor was or if it was an L33 or not. I cant wait to see what it runs at the track. Its going to fly.

No problem I looked for a l33 found one for a steal but the yard that had it would not let me inspect it before buying it. This is just a run of the mill 05 5.3 iron block with dished pistons. I cant wait to get to the track just need good weather on a day off
