Default made some first runs with the nova.

I was just going to take it easy today after a busy last few days and my wife came in the house and said it was a nice track day so she got the ball rolling. so I put on the little 27/10.5et streets and went to lapeer.

1st run I was just going to run easy and got lined up to an open header car and couldn't hear **** so I had to drive by the gauges. left at 2000 rpm no boost the car builds boost from about 50 ft out until 2nd gear shift.

all runs were 10 to 10.5 # boost 11* timing 93 pumpgas no meth low 10s afr

1.74 60'
7.08 1/8 @102.50 mph
10.81 @128.67 mph

2nd run

torqued it up a little more.
1.79 60'
7.08 @102.88
10.79 @130.32 mph

3rd run was a waist as just as I was going to use my launch control the guy running the track opened my door and said 1/8 mile only due to no cage he got me off my game and I didn't get a good start so I just cruised thru.

last run I ran like the first two foot breaking to 2000

ran another 7.09 at 102.50

I have some things to work on . my breaks will only let me get to 2000 without spinning but I need a good 2500 for boost and I didn't get to try my launch control so maybe next time.

all in all it was a great first outing and the car worked perfectly. love the ls turbo power.

good start.. mph has a 9' in it.. if you can get it to hook anyway.. and you can turn up the boost lol..
finally got mine to hook last week at the track but ended up burning a valve..

Very nice, it's amazing these things pull that MPH on low boost. Just for reference a 10.7 with a 1.5 60' was only 125 MPH on my old setup, so you will definitely pick up a lot being able to launch it harder.

thanks

if I can get boost from the start it will run much better.foot breaking gets me 2000 rpm but no boost . my launch control works but not fast enuff with the lights coming down at liest where it is set now . im going to raise my 2 step to just under my rpm the tires spin and im sure I will be ok. i had my laptop but went brain dead after i started making passes. i could have logged this stuff

10# & 11° = 130 MPH. That is pretty amazing for sure.

Mike, I have good news for you.
It will only go faster.
At 130 my nova went 10.20's with mid 1.4 60 foot. The very last run with the rat was a 10.03 @ 133

You going to get a cage? I assume you don't even have a roll bar?

Congrats on the first passes!

thanks.

yes i do have a roll bar for it i just haven't got to installing it yet. i did some back seat bars and have it all fitting good just need to make up my mind if i want to change front seats first so i can fit the cage to the seats. i just want a 6 pt with both side bars being swingouts so i can remove them that will limit me to 135 mph but i can get away with some good runs if i get it leaving better.

i built the car to run low 10s at 135 mph and drive like a stocker. and it is almost there i think i can get to my goal at my current 93 octaine tune if i can get it to run 6.50 instead of 7.00s 1/8

eather way the car is fun and i love beating the open header race cars with a quiet smooth idling car. could not be happier with the car.

it was busy but I never waited more than 3 cars to make a pass. could have made 15 passes in 2 hours easy. that's why I go there.
