Driving without Charge pipe connected! Need advice!
Im finishing up my build on my S10. Im running a cammed 5.3/4L80e on E85+meth with a on3 76mm mid mounted behind my cab. Just out of curiousity, is it possible i could run the turbo with the entire cold side connected but just leaving it disconnected from the throttlebody until I get it tuned? This is my daily and i need to get to and from to work. I baby the hell out of the truck and dont plan on taking it over 2500 rpm. I just want everything ready for the tuner. Its a bit of a pain in the *** to route everything with the truck bed still on. Will I screw something up?
Old pic, but u get the jist. I now have a new bed with an uncut bed floor...

If your lucky... If your not the compressor wheel explodes and/or smacks the housing and you suck up a bunch compressor blades. If you baby it I wouldn't worry about it at all. For the 30 minutes it would take to pull the gate or the spring though you could drive it around like it was NA and beat on it.

I'd just leave the charge pipe on and baby it man. You won't see any boost if you are easy on it and don't go wild.

You won't overspin the compressor by leaving the charge pipe off. You'd have to go wide open throttle and generate a ton of heat to even pretend to overspin it.
Your exhaust doesn't produce enough volume without the added boost to spin the turbo up as fast as if you were cramming two or three times as much air down it's throat.
Overspinning due to no charge pipe is a fairly common misconception.
