Default Screamer pipe vs plumbed back

I would like to know if anyone has done any testing when it comes to running a Screamer pipe or having it plumbed back in

What sort of power gains if any have guys seen from going a screamer

looking more at street / strip cars

My set up is a 408ci, S480 96mm rear 1.32ar

Cheers

Cant comment on power but I have 2 w/g's screaming and its not as loud as I thought it would be. Squealing tires makes make alot more noise

He is referring to a wastegate dumping to atmosphere vs plumbed back to the downpipe/exhaust.

OP: Personally I have never plumbed one back to the exhaust, I always leave it open route it towards the ground and let it "scream". I figure it helps relieve some back pressure that way...

I don't know if there are many people that have went from recirculated into the exhaust to a wg dump. I'd imagine it's very dependant on how much boost and how large your dp is. If it's a big 4" deal and you are not pushing the single that hard then it probably wouldn't make much of a difference.

I originally ran a 1 3/4" dump pipe of my wastegate and was pretty raspy. After a week I plumbed it into my 3 1/2" downpipe. It felt slightly slower but had sounded much better and could hear the turbo whistling. If I had to redo it, id run it seprate with a small glasspack or something just to knock out the raspiness. lol But its one of those preference things, made it sound like beast only at wot I just didn't like the sound of an open pipe

Unless your exhaust is very restrictive, it wont make any difference.

I went from screamer to plumbed back and noticed no difference in power, but it sounded much nicer. Same 3.5" dump/exhaust. Might be a different story at bigger power levels.

The noise can be irritating inside the car if vented to atmos.

I ended up making a couple of small silencers instead which killed the worst of the noise

Gains will be marginal (if at all). Personally, I think open dump tubes sound great
