I've used real tial wastegates and have had them bind up and fail. I've also had a china ebay wastegate fail. That being said having a boost cut setup will save ****. But I've never had a emusa fail. I plan on using a emusa vband wastegates on my next build.

Never have had a problem with my greddy blow off valve. Don't like the hks ssqv. Have had some tweaking I've had to do using eBay bovs. I like the forge bovs. Basically a built version of a bosch bypass valve.

Just my .02

Thanks for all of the advice guys. For a 600whp setup would you recommend a 44 or 50mm wastegate?

Should I install 1 of the 38s on each manifold or both directly under the turbo flange with 2 different pressure springs?

Let's say 1 at 7 psi and 1 at 12 psi?

I'm going with 2 38mm wastegates placed as straight out of the manifold as I can get at the first 90's on each size. I'm running the same spring on both. I don't know why you would want different psi on each bank?

This is Not mine but this should give you an idea.

the v banded waste gates are easier to work with than the bolt on units, more adjustability, I run 2 garrett gt3582r bb turbos with 2 turbo smart 45mm waste gates, 2 turbosmart 50mm bovs, the turbos were 1400 each v band tial tubines, waste gates were around 360 ea. bovs were ?? 300 each if I remember correctly

Is this thread really still going?

Wastegate placement is more important than size. You can run two tial mvs 38mm gates and two ebay BOV's just get the right spring for them.

Wastegates, I only have experience with TiAL and JGS.

JGS is a piston style(no diaphragm like TiAL) and have just a few spring selections. Usually, you would control this gate with air pressure IE C02..... great item, American made...great quality and low cost. Available only in black.

TiAL...great product...MANY different spring choices....so,....if you are not running a controller....or you are using a more economical way of controlling boost(or just relying on spring pressure) the TiAL is probably more suited to the masses... it has a diaphram inside...which COULD is too much air pressure is used..could come apart with that co2 or air pressure on top of it. many color options.

Both great items. Tial is a little more expensive... but comes with a lot of springs...also water cooled...

Given the turbocharger you are talking about using.... it'd be in your best interest to set the crossover up fully divided and run 2 gates versus merging the crossover and running one.

A pair of JGS 40's or Tial 38's would be enough to control it to any point you would desire.

Another vote for JGS.

Im not gonna lie. I use the cheap as **** gates off ebay. Never had an issue. But I always fully disassemble and deburr and check them out. Ive had 2 50mm ones on our old turbo mustang since 2008. Ran 4.30's on 275 radial. Only paid $90 a piece for them. I would love to have US made ones but the prices are way up there for such a simple part. I just cant see paying $1500 for 2 50-60mm gates. I hate not buying us products but the price difference is just too much. But if money is no issue then by all means get the name brand ones. But if your money is tight then spend it wisely.

Thanks LilJohn for that advice, because merging the 2 together is exactly what I would have done.

I've contacted Holset to see if the 16cm or 18cm exhaust housing from an HX 50 or HX55 would work with H2D that I purchased. The H2D currently has a 25cm housing on it now and I know that it's WAAAAAAAAAAAY too big for a daily driven street truck. Looking to get the turbo to spool up around 1500-2000 RPM not 3500-4000 the current housing would put me at...

Thanks
Mike

I would say that it would be better having it spool later. You don't want to be in boost on every hill. It is more about the turbine wheel anyways.

Would love to find a video of someone disassembling one of the EMUSA gates that shows how to do it. I have changed springs but that is about it.

Sarg, i can NOT be certain on the brand that it was, but i remember someone on this forum taking apart an ebay gate and documenting it... Maybe comparing it too Tial or something... I'll see if i can dig that up.

I don't know where you are pricing things at... but JGS 50mm Gates are only 349 each.... and the 60mm's are only 499 each....

And American Made in Coos Bay Oregon....

Going off tial 60mm. Last I looked they were $750 each.
Im not a fan of the oring/piston type gates. Ive only ran across 2 cars with them in the past and on both cars the piston was sticking. So I stick with the diapram type. Not saying the others dont work good. Just my personal preference.

Anyone here have first and experience with EBAY wastegate and BOV?

I see this a lot and majority of people dont and just go by what other people who also as no experience with them first hand.

I have used the ebay tial replica (the vband style) and boosted to 33psi on e85 on my old talon. held up great. drove for over a year as my DD. (saw about 60mi daily for 5days a week)
I also put another one on my buddys turbo mustang.

as far as bov i used hks replica(with the hks logo -yes its fake) on my talon and on my datsun.
no issues as well.

im not saying everything on ebay works but a few works just fine-just search which one people have most success with. is it the best? maybe not but if im able to boost 33 psi and not have issues i have no problem with them plus they are only like $60 a piece.

btw key to ebay stuff like this is really cleaning them out when you recieved them before you install.
Ive read some people found some left over metal shavings (from machine work i suppose)
its an extra step but big $$ savings.

Im A DIY kind of guy though so if i get a crappy part i wont be paying someone to install it. ill just be out $60
