Default 95' Impala SS twin turbo build

Just thought I'd share some pix of recent project customers 95' Impala SS with a Kris Nelson of Nelson Competition built 427ci LSX & twin turbo's. Fabbed the new 1-3/4" 321 stainless header manifolds (purge welded & silicone bronze on outside of the primaries to header flange) this past week.

Got the pipes connected from the header manifolds to turbo's completed yesterday & today. 321 stainless 3" dia. 4" radius U bend is expensive stuff. Almost $200.00 per U bend. No room for messing up your cuts. I made cardboard templates first. As my old drafting teacher used to stress - "Think three times, measure twice, cut once!"

I'll get the color I painted the engine block, valve covers, brake booster, wiper motor for you tomorrow. It's a pearl blue over silver base coat by Matrix. It's the color that the customer is planning on painting the exterior of the car once we're done with the fabrication under the hood.

No I don't think 3" exhaust is too big of diameter for the turbo's or motor.

couple more pix of the headers. Notice the minimal amount of joint / welds used to construct each primary tube.

I utilized oval tubing to gain an additional 3/4" ground clearance underneath the front crossmember

I didn't want to redue the entire exhaust system so I just tied into the pre-existing X-pipe.

Thank you Tomhames. I'll try to get to that this week. The impala itself doesn't look anything special at the momment other than it's blue and has 22" diameter wheels. It's going to the body shop when I'm done with the motorwork and getting repainted a different shade of pearl blue (the color of the valve covers, engine block, brake booster) as well as a new set of wheels.

Much thanks krwyellowZ28!

I'm pretty much wrapped up with the fabrication end of things other than a few odds & ends. I still need to complete the pass. side wastegate piping where it dumps into the downpipe but I'm holding off untill we get the custom built radiator from C&R Racing as the lower rad. hose is right behind the downpipe and I need to configure it first. I'll con't to post pix as I go.
There's still quite a bit more work to do. Have to send the turbo's back to Precision to get rebuilt, coat the headers & exhaust piping, finish wiring, plumbing the turbo's etc...
Customer is getting concerned with the time frame & expense of it all as it's costing alot more than the original "guesstimate."
Then again - doesn't it always!!

Been awhile since I've posted any new progress pix. Took a break from working on this while exhaust was being coated, fuel tank sent out to get the Magna Fuel Pro Tuner pump submerged, Had C & R Racing custom build a new radiator for it, sent the turbo's back to Precision to get rebuilt and some other odds & ends. I'm in the process of trying to get the a/c components mapped out. Here's a pix of the coated exhaust minus the down pipes as I took them off to work on some things.

When I sent the motor back to Nelson Competition to get freshened up Kris Nelson installed a ATI Super Dampner to replace the stock one. The March serpentine pulley setup will not work with the ATI unit and no one makes an adapter for it so I had one custom machined to adapt the March pulley to the ATI dampner. Let me know if any of you are interested in getting one machined.
