Well now that hunting season is over I am finally getting some good time in on this build..
I just ordered the Holley Dominator EFI system with 160# injectors...

I order from Modern Speed since Derek sends you a base tune to start with and from what I have heard is more than willing to help with tunning after the sale..

Here is my new HTP Invertig 221 that I bought to help with this build.
I have wanted my own TIG for about 15 years, I have been practicing with it every night..

I finally mounted the Turbo on the Passenger side and pulled the front end apart, to make the hot side building easier..

You can see the Turbo bracket is in front of the now shorter J bar on the passenger rail

While my previous 67 was not an LS, maybe this will give you an idea on the mount.

I ended up with a GT4788 in the same spot as well.

Ah ha you do have a build thread! Well since my buddy doesn't post in here I will share some updates with you guys. We took the Chevelle down to Woodburn a few weeks ago for its first track passes with the turbo setup. Unfortunately we had to run the old MT drag radials as he was scared his slicks no longer had enough clearance after redoing the suspension and lowering the car over winter.

So we set the 2 step to 3000 rpm just to try and get the car down the track on the foot brake. Anyways it only left on about 1-2 lbs of boost and according to the data log someone got scared and let off the throttle a few times

Was that the first time out, good #'s-how much boost, gotta love A bodies
I remember when I first got mine running I was disappointed with the boost, but when I reviewed the data log I saw I was lifting, self preservation, avoiding trees along the road, lol-once I made sure I was 100% TP, I had boost.

That was the first time out, 3rd pass but the only full 1/4 mile pass. How much boost... well... he had some crap he was doing with the boost by gear setup that I was unaware of. Apparently 1st gear hit 16lbs 2nd gear was 13lbs and 3rd gear was 13lbs for a few seconds than ramped up to 16lbs lol. 1.55 60' I believe. We will have this thing in the 8's when we get it dialed in cutting some 1.2-1.3 60' times off the transbrake after he cuts up his fenders to clear the 30x13.5 slicks.

I was there and got to meet the owner. Car looks great.
I saw his nine second pass.
Looked effortless.

FB is loaded with good info,
You get tons of kids photos, political advice, religious advice etc.
It's wonderful!
All the reasons I don't participate.

Same with me. I don't have any social media accounts. They aren't good for anything other than causing trouble.

Ron,
It was damn good to finally meet you too, I have used your car as a reference for people doing the budget build thing many times ...
Like when I just put this vented Catch can in and everyone was telling me I needed at least 2 catch cans that size....
I wouldn't tell them **** I know this guy Ron from the Portland area that told me a couple years ago he just zip tied a few chunks of shop rags over the factory nipples on the valve covers ... And he is ripping off mid 9 second passes! Lol

Thanks for the nice compliments!
And actuall I use the end of an old white sock....one without holes in it. Ha!

My engine never had much blow by at all. I'll see how it fares after the rod and piston update.

With some more seat time and fine tuning, you will be bottom nines or faster pretty easily.

Big update on the car. We beat the **** out of it all weekend and it performed amazing without a hiccup. All these runs were ran in 3000'+ Density altitude and alot of passes were without ice in the intercooler.

1st Pass with the brand new 315 MT Drag radial Pros on 15lbs of boost! 1.3x 60' on a 1.5 lb launch off the trans brake. This PTC converter is amazing 6% slip at 6500 rpm and 4% at 7500 RPM.

Up the boost to somewhere around 20 lbs have to look at the logs but 26 dome pressure. Spun a little past the 60' and had to get out of it for a second.

Tightened the compression and extension on the menscar front shocks but I think it was shorted shifted in 1st. Such a smooth straight pass.

Last pass of the weekend vs a $140k smack talking GTR. Still short shifted 1st gear I think this would have been the elusive 8 2nd pass but until next time 9.03 was the best run. Awesome view from a drone.

We have been wanting to get the car on a dyno so we took it over to my buddies brand new badass eddy current brake dyno jet saturday night in between race days. On 18.5lbs of boost this thing cranked out 86x rwhp first pull on the dyno lol. We messed around doing 2nd and 3rd gear pulls, load vs no load and ended up doing 2nd gear pulls. 3rd gear pulls were too insane (175 mph) with the converter flashing to 6000 rpm and than waiting for the tires to catch up to pull it to 7500 rpm. 2nd and 3rd gear pulls made the same amount of power and with a brand new set of 315 Pros with 2 passes on them we settled for 2nd gear.

I'd rather not go into too much detail but lets just say we pushed it pretty hard lol

Thanks guys chute is already on the car you can see it on the first video if you look close. He pulled it on the last run to try it out. The chute is using the air launcher setup it's real trick.
