Mine has a 4an feed and 10an return. Pushes a little oil on cold starts @ 70+ psi. Otherwise no problems. I bought it from someone that put about 500 miles on it and I have put about 10,000 on it on my car. Too bad so many people are having issues with these lately.

Is the PT88 a journal bearing turbo? If it has some side to side play but doesn't touch the housing thats 100% normal for a journal bearing turbo. If it has in and out play its probably fucked.

T4 turbos you guys are talking about? -4 feed? and a -10 return? Sounds a little on the mismatched side to me. Wouldn't you want a -3 feed, and a -10 return? If the manufacture tells you to run a -4 then disregard but...sounds like a lot of oil me on a T4.

-4 usually on a T6 setup...with a -12 drain usually.

I was told to run -4. Read about numerous others running -4. I believe the reason is because this is more of a mid frame turbo than small even though it's still a t4. Probably should have a -12 drain though in reality..

On a mid frame T4..I get how you could run a -4 feed. It's just a decent amount of oil. If you have an awesome drain setup...like a -12 and a nice straight sloped shot to the pan of wherever, you would probably be perfect.

But...if your not smoking now....and you're happy with how it is...do it to it. Just a recommendation based on what I have learned in my trials.

Another failed PT88 here with low miles (4k). Built the truck in June and it was shot by mid September. I started noticing a lot of smoke coming from my exhaust at stop lights so I looked into it and found the compressor wheel rubbing on the housing. I replaced it with a cast S480 and love it. Never bothered sending the PT in yet because when I called about a rebuild the only thing the guy could tell me is that it wont cost over $1,700 since that's the new price of one. F-that!

Not to hijack, but what is the best 88mm turbo to get? Or are there many good options?

Its sad to hear a lot of issues, especially since I hear locally so many good things about precision turbos. Lot of guys run them, and they don't have issues, so its definately not everyone.

I think BW turbos are best for the money, but the problem I have with them is their housings are FREAKING HUGE! Not a big deal in an old muscle car, or truck with room under the hood, but in a 4th gen F-body or Corvette where space is limited, sometimes they just won't fit.

I would like to learn more about the garret turbos. Their 88mm gt4788 is the most expensive vs the PT 8847 and the S500 (and perhaps this is why you hear the least about them being used compared to the other two)
