Default LS 408 Vega 88mm Street tuning with video

I have been taking the car out about once or twice a week to start dialing up the boost and doing some street tuning. My son went with me and ran the laptop for datalogs. He also recorded a few small pulls on his phone.
We are at 4500 ft elevation so we are at a disadvantage from you sea level guys. I am at about 14 lbs here with an AFR of 11.2 and about 12 degrees of timing. I just got the meth injection kit installed so I was spraying a little methanol also. It did not not have any knock but I think I sprayed too much meth too early as it stumbled a little on the first pull. I only did a short pull as the road is not the most isolated.

<<<@!1!@>>>

Here is a walk around vid of the car when I drove into my driveway from a few months ago. I shows the elbow that I used on the Victor Jr. intake and the 102 cable throttle body.

LOL! I bet your neighbors adore you! hahaha I know I would. Those elbows are nice, I got the low profile edelbrock so it'd fit under the hood with the vic jr. Kinda wish I went LS6 now, but eh, it fits. =)

Beautiful car man!

Very cool! I came close to buying that car! I didn't think I'd be able to get it tagged here though... Congrats it's a beauty!

Thanks for the comments. The car has been pretty fun and with the 3.73 gears, tall tires and the Glide it is actually really easy to drive on the street. I am anxious to get the boost up a few more pounds and start the fine tuning to see how it runs.
The forum has been a big help in tuning this.

Looking good Don! Glad to see you're getting it dialed in more and more!

Set your methanol to not come on until at least 6-7psi and have it ramp to full 100% around 10-12psi.

This should eliminate any stumble you may have occurred at lower injection settings.

Thanks Martin. I will try that tomorrow as we should have good weather for another run. The cam works great.

Be careful without some sort of traction control. Once dialed in, It will be useless on the street with boost coming in all at once. I’d get that monster to a track before turning it up. No reason it shouldn’t run in the 7’s. Keep us posted!

Yeah the only thing that sucks about that, is then you feed your engine upside down air, and upside-down air has a different stoichiometric ratio for gasoline then regular air, so you run the risk of your car running lean.

With the larger AR ratio it does not come onto boost very early or quickly so on a roll on run it hooks up very well with the 14 X 32 Hoosiers Slicks. It is running at about 13-14 psi in low gear and then goes to about 17 psi or so when I shift into Drive and it gets more load on it. I sense a little bit of wheel spin on the shift but with a spool it stays pretty straight.

I have the methanol come on as Martin suggested and it seems pretty smooth. It did not have any knock and the AFR was at 11.2 with about 12 degrees of timing.
I think our nice fall weather has come to a close so I will get it on the dyno early spring and get it dialed in better.

No more stumble or hesitating?

If so, that's good! She's happy now!

I did that once on my old turbo car except it did it on the transbrake. It started popping as it was mis-firing, but I mistook it for my two step! Haha! I learned to be a bit more conservative with where I set my "on" point after that.

Yes, that is correct it was nice and smooth coming into boost with no stumble or hesitation. I have not tried it on the transbrake yet as I do not have an isolated street close to me that I would dare to a launch at.
Thanks for your guidance as the car runs pretty strong now especially when you get it into Drive and it starts to get some load on it.

If you want to try some things tune wise, I think we can make it a bit more responsive yet...

I am game as I am new to the tuner world and will take any suggestions that I can, especially from folks like you that have been doing this for a long time.
