Default weight of a turbo setup

Anyone weigh their cars before and after a turbo swap? I'm just looking for rough numbers of what a kit would weigh. I think the 6.0 in my Datsun would like mighty good with a turbo hangin in front of it. Only problem is that I don't want to weigh the front of it down too much considering it already has an iron block. I did search but I didn't really come up with any numbers. Here's a few pics of how it sits now, Just waiting on my front air dam and fender flares. Thanks

Depends on tons of factors.

Single? Twins?
Small frame? Borg Warner?
Full exhaust? Downpipe only?
Intercooled or not?
Meth Injection?

A single turbo setup, no intercooler, downpipe only, no meth injection, using a small light turbo like an On3 76m, can be done at around a 60 lb gain (might be able to knock 10 lbs off of that with a clever hotside) using current manifolds.

Twin BW turbos, 4" intercooler, meth injection with 2 gallon reservoir, full exhaust... could cost you a couple of hundred pounds.

Thanks for the reply JoeNova. I was thinking it could be done for about 75-90 pounds. It would be a single setup, small frame, full exhaust, intercooled, and no meth injection. I would have to be clever on my hotside just about no matter what, with the motor mounts I made its gonna be a squeeze to get the downpipe out.

T4 76mm turbo I just weighed 17.7lbs

4 inch thick, 31inches long(end to end) intercooler weighs about 23lbs

a 2.5 inch steel V band assembly is about 1lb

a 90 degree 3 inch elbow stainless is 3lbs

a 90 3" aluminum elbow is about 1.2lbs

a 44mm WG is about 3.5-4lbs depending on how many springs you run

a bov is about 1 lb

hope this helps.

If space on top is tight, low mount a pair of twins instead.

If you're worried about weight distribution than put that battery in the back to offset the weight of the turbo & accessories!

Standard 400 series BW turbos are ~39 lbs. The Bullseye BatMoWheel turbos can get as low as 29 lbs with the stainless turbine housings and billet back plates.

Move your radiator and fan forward,...outside the engine bay(that pic LOOKS like you could do that)...and still have room for a nice air to air out front. Put the turbo(single) right in front of the motor. Easy. Just gotta run a front dump out of the turbo since I don't think you have much room to go to the back but I don't know those cars...only guessing off that picture.

Or..run a rear mount,..or two small twins.

Thanks for the replies! Those weights were helpful V-seriestech. You guys are saying what I was thinking, battery relocated in trunk and radiator in front of the core support. An aluminum block would be ideal but I'd rather spend the money on turbo parts considering I've only had this motor for a couple thousand miles. I figured now that I have HP tuners down I could fab up a turbo kit and have it running for decently cheap and get this thing moving really good.

LOL yessir. It's a 400 chassis, 96mm TW, and 1.30 stainless vband housing. Works great in twins, but it wont hang with a fullsize 88 in a single setup.

That right front fender needs a big hole! I dump exhaust straight down no need to run it out the back.

My billet S475 was 34lbs. (has smaller S410 cover) Physically to darn big for cramped engine compartments IMO. Weight isn't the issue as much as physical space. S400 series are hard to package! PT7675 would be a great choice and easy to package IMO.
