crank pinning advice
I have a ATI balancer going on the car with a F1a procharger. The balancer only has one slot for a pin. Is the one single pin horizontal on the snout going to be sufficient? It is a stock crank FYI.
I'm not sure what type of material the pins are made of but is there a reason why it wouldn't be strong enough and I would want to find one made of chromolly or some other hardened material?

The pins are very hard.
It might be worthwhile to put two pins in about a half inch apart. You would have to get creative with the tool.
Also, because I have the tool and ran into this.
Line up the pin location very carefully with the existing key for the timing gear. This will allow you to get the timing gear/oil pump drive on and off w/o removing the pins you just installed.
I believe ATI sells two diff tools and one may already line them up for you.

I would run 2 pins. I had 1 pin and it started to shear off on 14psi
The spot in the ati balancer is for a key way not a pin. Here is the link to the pin kit you need.

I have done it a couple times. The drill bit they gave you in the kit will drill through the ati balancer and a crank longer than stock. You are NOT going to use the slot in the ati balancer for the pin. Put the balancer all the way on then then bolt up the ati fixture DO NOT line it up with the key way spot on the balancer and drill your hole

Oh okay good. I've done it that way as well and it's a piece of cake man! Just run your bolt in jig in and drill on opposite sides and your good to go! If your kit doesn't have directions on how far to drill. Just put your bit against the pin and mark how far u need to drill with a piece of tape or something so you don't go to far
