Default 1969 Camaro T56/TT Cruiser Build

A few years back I bought this 69 camaro with intent to sell it as the deal was great. Had it painted last year and overall just really like the car and am not into it a whole lot. So naturally I decided to swap and turbo it

This swap will be fairly budged and use a lot of parts ive either had kicking around or donated from my Nova as I upgrade it.

Started the build about 3 weeks ago. Typically work on it wed for 3-4hrs and sat for 8-12. Hoping to be done in Feb/March.

Built T56 ive had in my basement for a few years
Used Mcleod twin disc same story
6.0 that came out of my Nova with a new set of rods/bearing in it.
LS9 Gaskets
317 heads
China Studs
Speed inc tu1.5 cam
Twin ON3 T70s on a .68AR

After Paint

Motor put together

Started the TT kit. Using truck manifolds and had to remake part of the pass mani to make it fit running lower. Twins will be forward facing and on each side of the rad.

Thanks! We will see how I like this one when done but the possibility is there that I will sell it. I would like to build a 55-57 chevy next and there is no way in hell id sell the Nova.....but I might say the same about this once complete.

Great build. Feel free to post more pics showing your manifolds... no such thing as too many pics. I want to go with a similar design on my b-body, but I think the front-mounted steering box is going to screw me up. Do you have any idea of an AC comp would fit in the stock location (lower passenger side) with those manifolds?

Not sure about AC. Dont have anything to test fit it with since I don't use AC on my builds. Not that hot up here. This will be my first time even running power steering in a long time!

Here is a link to more pics.

Ashen Gray Metallic. Very dark when not under direct light.

Man you just made me realize that I never take pics of this car for some reason.

Here are a few closer up to the paint

Thanks a bunch guys.

Did some work this week. Built the hot parts to the turbos, downpipes and welded it all up. After a few long nights I am smoked! and am going to work on it again a few hours Wed.

Sorry for so many pics and there are even some more on my photobucket

Lets go ahead and put these turbos in right there.

2.5" to T4

Weld er up. Backpurged stainless

Pass side

anddddddddddddddddddddddd here it is

Next day I got to work on the downpipes. Took much longer than expected. Polished before welding.

How it sits currently

Soooo if and when you decide to sell this car, you should let me know..

I've been dreaming of building a TT Cyber Gray 69 Camaro for years. This is damn near close enough

You've been stealing my dreams of this twin turbo hot side right out of my head. I love how you've executed this.
Do you have any pictures of how the driver's side downpipe passes between the firewall and the manifold and brake booster? This is pretty tight on my car.
How is your engine mounted? Are you using setback plates?
What diameter downpipes are you using?

Glad you like it! Are you doing a similar setup? You are correct that it gets pretty tight back there but nothing too crazy. A solid 1/4" in all directions.

I ground a little off the manifold, cut the ear off the steering column and went to a 7" brake booster for more room. If I remember I will get a better pic but this is the closest I have now

I am using the carshop 1" setback plates
3" downpipes

I'm actually running a single turbo right now, but I've been strategizing a twin setup since I finished.
I'm using 1" carshop plates also but I'm using a hydroboost system.
I really like how you ran your drivers manifold. I may try to do this before I go to twins anyway.

Glad you got that oil pressure figured out!
If you need any help along the way feel free to ask.

ya thanks, that was one of the more stressful parts of the build.

I'm basically finished with any big things on the motor for now... I'm just trying to make the car safer to drive (suspension, brakes, traction, etc).
