My car is making 200 lbs more torque than hp on a mustang dyno. 870ftlbs at 3500 rpm. Do you think it's a converter issue? My tuner says the staor is wrong. I have a fti sst

Wouldn't happen to be running methanol would you?

Its typical to make more torque than HP on a mustang dyno, but that is a pretty insane amount of torque at 3500 RPM.

My car did the same thing on the dyno. Part of it is the converter flashing and part of it in my case was boost falling off. My car would make commanded boost when the converter flashed but start bleeding off until max rpm as the roller couldn't keep the car loaded. I can't remember exactly but I think it was close to 3lbs. I made 170 more torque. On the street the car made full boost through the entire rpm range and ran great. I wouldn't worry about anything unless you see an issue on the street or track.

When I had small twins on my L92, the dyno showed 600 whp and over 900 ft/lbs. I don't remember what kind of dyno it was. Tuner said it was something with the converter.

Denmah had the same results when he did the small twins on that white truck. low power lots of torque.

Talk to ur converter supplier and find out what it has in it. What kind of rpm drop do you see on the shifts? Slippage up top? Basic rundown of your setup and turbo? Boost level at pk torque?

Id take it to the track and see how it acts. Bet you could leave on 1-2 psi on the foot brake and build boost really fast. If your not slipping excessivly on the top end id leave it.

That big torque spike is pretty typical on a mustang dyno with a stalled auto, I'd ignore it and just look at the horsepower curve.

Typical of a stalled auto on a mustang.... its converter flash....

For the dyno to say the converter is wrong.... is a big stretch....

I had the same sort of thing happen with me on the dyno but at the track I have very little slip. I think it's just the converter flash. Other than dyno numbers being weird I my Yank-PY3400 works awesome at the track and on the street.

I am having trouble reading the printout but what HP is it showing at 3500? 870 torque is 580 HP at 3500 and it does not look like that is what it is indicating. It looks like a pretty flat HP curve after 3500. Again, I am having trouble reading it as it is blurry.

Bingo.

Dyno operator does not even know how his dyno works.
