Default how much hp will a ls3 block handle

assuming its fully forged/studded and about 416cubic inch, i would think the block would flex or crack before any internals went anywhere or broke? i see people makin 800's on stock ls3's, so i assume a forged one will take all you can give it? how would this compare to a forged lq block

With good internals, 800-1000whp is pretty doable. You'll have the standard oiling issues at some point and it will be hard to keep bearings in it. The aluminum blocks are only so strong. They all flex eventually.

Bottom end might move some but the ls3 has stronger cylinders than a 6.0 iron end of story

We pushed around 1050rwhp thru one with stock crank, forged rods/pistons, ported ls3 heads, ls3 intake, gts76 turbo with billet wheel.
Stock bore. Around 16psi

The mains and webbing in the LS3 block is stronger. 36% stronger than the LS1 block according to GM.

Also, the water jackets were slightly redesigned to strengthen to upper portion of the cylinder liners.

About 1000rwhp is where we go. Not just a dyno hit scenario. WOT hit's to 200mph.

The iron 6.0s are stupid thin between cylinders . we are talking ~.100 wall thickness. Just the steel liner alone is thicker than this on a ls3

I know this

A 4mm rod can fit between there easy.... So figure wall thickness with a 4.03 bore /4.4 bore space even perfect with no coreshift

Mine has been making 789rwhp for 3 years. Friends TT 5th gen was making 950rwhp before he decided to built it. Currently at 1145rwhp with his combo on 18psi. Plenty stock and forged have been making over 750rwhp for a long time.

wow THANKS for all the repsonses i love having alot of opinions, and yea i wondering if it the ls3 was a better choice over the iron, but it seems like they both hold about all a 4 bolts head will hold down anyways..or 1000-1100 wheel? and i like the added wall thickness on the ls3's for sure!! so a fullly built one as badass you can build it, basically will handle 1k wheel all day? assuming everything else is done right

its also awesome hearing the info on how good the ls3 actually is compared to a 6.0, i know its supposed to be the strongest gm aluminum block, so if its as good as a lq block and its alot lighter.. i guess its the best thing next to an lsx or crazy rhs/c5r blocks

Friend on mine has a forged ls3 that makes 1100 wheel on an unloaded dyno
Pushed water at 26 psi or so and hurt a few Pistons
Back together now trapping 150 in 4k lb car

Daamn!! so if the block itself can take the abuse it has to be a little better option over the lq blocks...maybe?
and yea i mean with a t6 turbo maybe like 91mm and 22-24psi onna stroked ls3, that should make some damn power!! not what im running but awesome knowing the block can handle it
anymore setups out there? or opinions
