Default s480 upgrades for 1000+rwhp?

Hello have a question about my build hope you guy's can steer me in the right direction.I just finished my 99 z28 370 fully built ,ported 317s,sheet metal intake alky injection 4l80e with 9in rear,is the 84mm + race cover worth the $ to upgrade to get to 1000 rwhp on 93+meth or should I look into another turbo?

I would speak with someone who does this stuff for a profession, like Lil Jon from Lil Jon Motorsports.

People make 1000 with the box stock cast bws480, and you can always upgrade to a racecover and billet wheel down the road if you want more. Pretty sweet turbo for $899

What power/boost are you at now? Are you measuring backpressure? I assume you have the standard 1.32 T6 housing on the 96mm turbine?

You aren't going to make 1k to the tire with a standard cover S480 for 899.... not on 93 octane pump gas with Meth..... Unless its a 6 speed car with an air to water intercooler.

The wheel and cover are very much worth the upgrade. That wheel moves enough air at a low enough pressure ratio to make that kind of power without getting too risky on the tuneup in a limited octane setup. 1k to the tire on pump+meth on that few cubic inches through that transmission will be a risky proposition.... thats 2.7 hp per ci.... So far the best I know about is 2.68 per ci but that was through a th400 with 408 cubes..... You will either have to be spraying a Boatload of Meth.... or end up having to use a higher octane fuel.

considering some of the absolute best cast wheel race cover 80mm units I have see do good to make 1050... I would say it would be Very difficult to eclipse 1k rwhp with a standard cover 80 on about anything.

John, what kind of 1/4-mile ET/MPH would that translate to for a 3,150# Fox with a 390ci, glide/3.55, E85 and meth? If someone could not upgrade the wheel and cover at the same time, which would provide more gain: billet 80 wheel/std cover or cast wheel/race cover?

That net'd a high 5 oh@139 ish 1/8 mile time at 3250.... so there is a possibility that a fully optimized combination with the cast 80 race cover unit could knock down a 7.9X@170-174 with the gates pinned shut running her for all she was worth.

And if I had to choose between the wheel and the cover... the Wheel will net a bigger gain over the cover if done one at a time.
