Default LJMS Air to air intercooler... now available!

Introducing the LJMS air to air IC. Built to compliment the air to water offerings I already have... The core is a Garrett 24x12x4.5 thats been proven to support 1300+ horsepower. The tanks are heavier guage aluminum than you might find in other IC's, they are made of 1/8th inch thick aluminum. They are 3.25 inches wide at the bottom and 2 inches at the top. Making the total width 28 top 31 at the bottom. Connections are 3.5 inches in diameter ( to match the 3.5 outlet of the new borg cover) and are a cnc'd extrusion, not a stub of pipe. Total end to end length is 37 inches. The mounting bosses are approx 7 inches on center from the ends on the top.. they are 7/8's in diameter and offer 1 full inch of thread engagement with a 1/2 inch bolt. The bosses were located to make mounting easy in some of the most popular bodies everyone is using. This thing was built to withstand all the abuse you guys can toss at it. Price on this piece is going to be 1099 plus shipping. I am going to do an initial run of them and if you order one before Monday at noon.... and its yours for 999+ shipping. Tell me you are an LS1tech member and I will pay the shipping. Hope you guys like this one! And the one that is in the picture is in stock and available for purchase today.

John, what makes this intercooler better than a treadstone of the same size, or a Garrett model of the same size? Is it a tube and fin design, or a bar and plate?

It is a garrett core... So that part is equal to others utilizing the same core. The differences in mine are the thickness of the tank material, tank design , connectors, and mine comes with the mounting bosses already on.

There is no comparison with this unit and a treadstone... they really aren't meant to compete against each other I dont think.

Is this the only configuration that you will have? I was looking at a top side inlet. I didn't know you had a2w setups? Id be interested in those also...

Custom configurations won't be a problem... but this one was done to fit on fox bodies with the mount locations ( yea i know)...

If you need a top in and out... would it be possible to just flip this core over and put the mounting bungs on the opposite side of the core for you? For something small like that... no extra charge for a custom configuration would be required.

The garrett core is one of the best you can get... Look at the fin density in his picture VS the treadstone core.

Nice that it's the same dimensions as the "cheap" intercoolers many use. Looks like I could slap the LJMS unit in place of my cheap IC with VERY little work.

That was kind of the whole point of building it the way I did.... just a swap and go upgrade. I think its little details like that that make the difference. Like the length of the connectors... they are extra long ( 2.5 inch wide landing behind the bead) so they can be double clamped... so you dont have to take the nose off the car to fix a blow off if you can't get to it.

There is a lot more that goes into intercooler core design then most realise. Yeah some may make more power, but a 2' long bit of 4 inch pipe would also flow a lot and offer every low pressure drop!

Can't go wrong with the correctly sized Garrett core with some nice end tanks.

John, have you done any CAD or flow analysis on the end tanks?

I had a little bit done. Its obviously not as well distributed as a centered inlet/outlet with a 45° tank angle... but... that extra bit from pushing it out to 3.25 from 2.5 of some other similar designs helped drastically.

Have you seen the end tank design used on the EVO 7,8,9? They angle the inlet and outlets up at about a 30-45 degree angle with the inlets / outlets coming into the tank at approx the bottom third. Guessing this helps promote airflow to the upper section of the core.

Not sure if it would fit in the intended package or not though.

John, just checked out your intercoolers inline and fell in love with the A2W setup for the Holley Hi-Ram. What's it rated for? Do you have any real world use out of it? I'm looking to change stuff up on my build and differ from everyone else's builds!
