Default Trunk mounted ice intercooler tank

I'm wanting to install an ice/water tank for the texas mile coming up to help with heat buildup. Does any company make an off the self tank for this purpose or is custom fabbed he only option?

Thanks

you can use any of the cheap plastic fuel cells that are out, just remove the foam.

An actual insulated cooler works much better. It doesn't sweat all over the inside of the car and helps insulate the ice. The alum ice tanks everyone uses sweat all over the inside of the car and make a huge mess.

That makes a lot of sense. I'd look at a round water cooler with a screw off lid. Replace the water spigot with an outlet and return it through the lid. Put a drain valve in the outlet tubing. All kinds of easy ways to make a mount for those. Nearly every work truck in Texas used to have them back before all of the regulations made it easier to just do bottled water. Lots of ideas here. http://www.igloocoolers.com/Beverage...s-Collections?

Thanks all, I think I'll go with a normal style cooler and epoxy in some npt fittings. The beverage igloo will be too tall I'm sure. Those submersible pumps looks nice and cheap if they can handle the pressure drop through the intercooler. The built tanks look nice too but like the others said I don't want them sweating in the trunk. A yeti cooler maybe ideal for the sealing but I'm not sure it's worth that money.

Default Cooler

Some bulkhead fittings might keep you from needing to epoxy it. Rubber gaskets with a teflon washer to allow them to not spin against the fitting.

this is why engineering pays.
-aluminum is great at transferring heat. that's why it is a great intercooler and a HORRIBLE ice box.

google 'tank depot'

and why 99% of people build or pay $$ to have an aluminum one built.. NO IDEA.

A friend of mine brought this thread to my attention.

We never really had any issues with tanks sweating all over. They actually stay pretty dry. I Think if it was a issue no one would be using them and they would be putting iglue coolers in the trunk instead.

We make affordable trunk tanks with rule 2000 pumps from 275 shipped up to 400 shipped. AN fittings or NPT.

they are certainly nice parts but if you have never seen aluminum sweat then you have never held a can of cold beer?

great counter but nobody would make a water tank that thin.

We used reflectix to keep away any moisture to the outside of the tank when people were worried.

As pointed out, thickness in a beer can and a water tank makes a big difference

Can you buy just that tank and pump separately? I'm leaning towards a different pump.

I don’t know if Paul is still on this forum, but he’s crazy busy making tanks for all sorts of cars. From generic universal, to model specific ones.

PNR doesn't leak test his tanks before shipping.
