Nice build love 69 Camaro's. Good thing I read your write up about the flex plate if I understand it I need to order a flex plate for my 5.3 to adapt my turbo 350 and just buy the spacer from jegs

I would remove the inner liner of the flex section. I have seen them expand and completely close up.

Default Big time slacking on updates. It's running.

Got running and doing tuning and it either spun a bearing or the cam bearings went. Either way both are destroyed and I had to use a sledge hammer and pipe to remove cam from block. Still a cam bearing fused to cam. So a 400 cam lasted 20min and the motor is junk. Picked up another 5.3 left it all stock put it in ran it and all was good. So next day I ordered a stage 3 lil john/btr turbo cam. Threw it in 2 days later and it's an animal now. Here is an idle clip of it. http://youtu.be/dXbep9CL6K0

I spun two cam bearings in my first 5.3 also. Mine made it through about 15 dyno pulls and maybe 45min on the street!lol!! I got lucky though and my cam was still good!!. Picked up another complete 5.3 off of cl for $600, swapped over my good cam, pan and some new arp head studs and head gaskets. Got it back up and running yesterday, just as strong as it was before!!! Hopefully we both get a little more time out of our second bullets!!!!

That is crazy. We both build turbo 69 5.3l camaros at the same time and both take out cam bearings in first motor. Hmmmmm. Should be hitting Dyno in next 2 weeks. Did you lose oil pressure ? That's the only way I knew something was wrong. And it would start really hard after it was warmed up. And after I drained oil and it was sparkly.

Since I skipped a bunch of steps at the end of my build I figured I would show a few pics of it complete now. Hitting the Dyno next Tuesday with Matt (denmah) everyone pray to Ls gods it holds together. Don't wanna kill it but wanna lay down some numbers. And fine tune a little more.

Default dyno results

well good news is my tune was right on the money. bad news is converter wont hold more than 8 psi!!!!!lol made 553hp at 13psi at 16* and 11.0afr blowing threw converter horribly. matt helped me out with a few settings on gold box and truly is an awesome dude.

no it was 553 at 13 psi but converter would not hold it. think it did almost 400hp at 5 psi at 114 mph (converter held) but at 13psi it only went 98mph i believe. have 4.10 gears which would have helped with slippage but still wouldnt hold. its just a b&m 3800 converter. guess ill be getting a ptc!
