forged 6.0l lq4 turbo questions
hello i have a 2002 6.0l truck engine.. needing rebuilt im deciding i want to build it for boost.
Well i started off with knowing i want to get forged internals.
scat h beam rods
and wiseco forged pistons .
i have the original 317 heads.. ive seen alot about keeping those for this build.
I plan on running pump gas only, that being said if i went to a 243 head will my comp ratio be way to high?
I am debating on a tick performance stage 2 turbo cam or going with the ls6 cam for budget purposes and need some second opinions.
Any info is appreciated!

you could switch to a 243 head. you'll just need to make sure your pistons have a big enough dish to compensate for the smaller CC. but 317s flow about the same as the 243s so id say use the money elsewhere. im also in the middle of my 6.0L build. im getting a short block from ATK and already have my huron speed kit. good luck man

Get a custom cam from LJMS, Tick, DRC, or something. The ls6 cam is not that hot with a turbo. It will make power, but its a waste to NOT upgrade it while the motor is apart.
317 heads are fine, they have a nice thick deck and you can make a lot of power on them. I've run 160mph traps on 317s with 15lbs of boost and there are way faster cars than mine on them also.
