Default Which set of twins?

Hey guys I am putting a 5.3 in an s10. I am wanting to do a twin turbo set up and I have been looking at some on3's. My friend has had some good luck with them. I cant decide on 61mm or 70mm. The truck wont really be at the track too often and I would like it to spool rather quickly. Any input?

I love my On3 67's. Almost 900HP, fast spool, great transient response.

I would think that the 67 should spool faster. Bit I might be mistaken lol

Depends on what you want . personally would go with the 61s.
I run turbonetics 58s and make enough to trap 133 on 10 psi.they spool very fast and are alot of fun on the street

61mm would be plenty for the street. I think 70s would be over kill and spool slower which sucks on the street.

Also, I installed a 228r am from TSP. Its 228/228 .588/.588 112lsa. Ported and polished 862 heads. If I go with twin 61's, will that cam still be a decent fit?

Generally for quick spool you want the turbine to be larger than the compressor. I believe ON3 use the 65mm exh. wheel. So the 61 would be my pick if your not shooting for dyno queen stardom.

I'm using those same 61mm On3s T4 .68a/r

sadly it has yet to see the road, but builds boost easy against the brakes

Twin 70's would be a little overkill on your setup in my opinion. I would opt for the 61's, or even the twin 67's if you have the right cam to help them spool quick.

Well I have heard that my 228r with 112 lsa is a little big for boost. What do you guys think?

I don't know if it's an issue of it being too big, but that cam is not a turbo cam in the nature of it's valve events or LSA. While it's not optimal, I'm sure it will work just fine though.

I think the issue with the 228r in addition to the valve events is the XER lobes it's on. Pretty harsh profile.

I'd go twin 61's for sure. I've got turbonetics 6165's on my 370ci and I start seeing positive pressure at 2600-2800rpm.....suckers light off silly fast.

I say go 67's.. I like a little lag. My 6spd 370ci Twin 66/65's started making boost around 3000RPM

Went 164 with mpt70s at less than 20lbs of boost. Big potential but nasty down low too. Tiago made 800plus on pump gas with same turbos

I'd prefer to see less than 228 degrees of duration in a 5.3.

61's would be plenty of turbo for a 5.3.

How heavy is the car?

I was able to make 1009 on pump with mp t70's but think they were getting tapped out. 400 cubes. I have t72 turbonetics now and they feel stronger

I used to run mpt 60's before and made around 700 on 15 psi and assload of trq. They would be awesome on a 5.3
