Default Drill a weep hole in wastegate body?

When I busted my car out this spring I discovered my wastegate was non-functional. Taking it loose I found it full of water and the valve severely rusted. China 'gate components not made of the material specified? Go figure.

As I am not interested in finding a new home for it and redoing everything, I am considering drilling a 1/16-3/32 hole in the replacement gate's body to let what I assume is condensation from my downpipe out. Besides creating a tiny torch at full boost, has anyone experienced a catastrophic failure of the wastegate body? I am running less than 10psi of boost in a stock long block LS2 GTO.
