Default Lq9 408 or LSX 427 or 454...TT or supercharged??

torn between going with a LQ9 408 or the LSX block 427 or 454 and procharge or twin turbo. It will be going into my 99 trans am that will be driven on the weekends and taken to the track once in awhile. I am wanting 1k + RWHP and at least 9's in the 1/4 mile for a track time

427 twin turbo is what I would choose, but I am a little bias...

The question is not how fast you want to go, its how much money you want to spend.

All of the combos listed could meet your goals.

Based on your signature, looks like you're driving a F1A Procharged car now. How do you like it? You obviously like it if you're considering going the Procharger route for the bigger build. What Procharger would you go with if you went that route? F1X, F1R, F2?

honestly, can't beat the sound of the procharger which is what i love. Also, it's way easier to work on than the turbo set up and i do already have everything set up for procharger. I would and probably will step up to an F-2 head unit and have it sent to steve morris and get the PRO-VOLUTE CNC INTERNAL MOD. After answering my own question i'm more than likely sticking with the procharger route lol.

With where you are headed I would go with the six bolt block and head combination. Bob

LQ9 with a bigger headunit is cool but a 427 with twin 62/66's is cooler.

There is a pretty big difference between a 4-bolt iron 408 and a big cube lsx motor cost wise. The FI I see is a wash with either motor.

So, if you have the funds it makes no sense to build an iron 4-bolt 408. Save yourself the headache and start with the 6-bolt lsx platform from the start.

I'm a die hard procharger guy...........pro-voluted, internal modded F2 is where I would be going.

ok, i'm going with an F-2 procharged LSX 427 or 454 build. Still can't decide on that part. What heads and pistons would you guys recommend with this build? For heads I am leaning towards some TFS 245's and pistons either Wiseco or Diamond dished. In regards to the procharger, i'm already set up for it and am using an 8 rib with an ATI super damper so i shouldn't have any belt issues. I'll be using all arp hardware and all forged internals of course.

Do a 427 no need for a 454 with boost.

thanks, this is what i was leaning towards. makes sense. any idea on which aftermarket heads would be good for this build? 22+ psi on the boost more than likely. I am thinking about using TFS 245's

If you CAN go TT you'll not regret it, IMO 427ci+Twin70-76s is the best combo

Quick Reply: Lq9 408 or LSX 427 or 454...TT or supercharged??
