Default 98-02 Camaro Fascia Opening- Yay or Nay?

Hey guys, looking to hear from some people who've experimented with this before. I've got a 02 SS with an eBay FMIC running 6 lbs and I'm trying to decide if I need to open up the front fascia or if I can leave it stock without an insert. Any feedback or real world examples would be great because I really like the way it looks stock but maybe in the future open it up with a modified SLP insert. I'm located in Seattle, WA so the temps here are pretty mild too. Thanks guys!

open it up and get a nice grill that will flow some air through that will be best

Thanks KM, I love the hollowed SLP look too but don't have the funds right now to do it, I'm trying to scrape cash together just to get it back on the road. Do you think it will cause problems with IAT as is with just 6 lbs?

Looks like this except with a FMIC behind it lol.

With 6psi? No won't cause problems there's way more to it than just a grill.......your Running that low of boost and unless you have 30* timing it's not making enough heat for issies

Yeah i had it done to where it looks like it came from the factory like that, it didnt cost to much but i understand bein tight on $$.. i ran 7-8lbs with the my grille uncut and ran into problems with heat when i went up to 12lbs.. so for 6lbs your perfectly fine, and the facia cut open looks GOOFY but your good.. until you want more boost

I'm, a big fan of KMSpeedie's setup. That is how I just cut mine out. No pics yet though because it isn't back on the car

I used a 5" hole saw and drilled 2 holes in my bumper, then reinstalled my grille.

Nice! I love all the ideas! So I'll leave it for now but I do have a 10 lb spring hanging on my wall lol. I had a black billet grill but I traded it for an EFI Live hand held so I could get my car tuned lmao. I figured what good was air flow if I can't drive it! Thank you for all the input guys and the pics, killer cars and clever ideas!

Here is mine after first install. It's just a hair dirty from sitting on the back porch the last 8 months. It took a little tinkering but the IC is refitted to be centered better now as well.

Yeah, I was getting a lot of **** for doing my build when I was laid off. People saying they wished unemployment would build their car. Lol. So this is for them. Never mind the savings I depleted to do it since I finally had time
