Default ProCharger and LT1 radiator

ProCharger folks who went to the LT1 radiator: was there an extra nipple on your radiator and how did you deal with it?

Went to O'Reilly's today (only place in town that had a rad for these cars today) and all of theirs were superseded to one number: 432399
Further research at other parts stores shows the same picture for their radiators, and the same part number for LT1 and LS1 cars. Looks like they superseded them all to one.

This replacement radiator has a nipple that wants to be in the same spot as the inlet hat. A rubber cap comes with the radiator for plugging this if not needed but the supercharger inlet hat is in the way of this thing. It's not to one side or the other, it's right in the middle of the round part that heads over to the air filter. Is this a new development or how have folks been dealing with this?

*Pardon the pizza boxes taped to the radiator to protect the fins while I sort through this.

My truck inlet hat fit on my F1A with the LT1 radiator without any issues.

Where that cutout is, is where the inlet hat sits. The truck inlet angles back towards the motor after that spot, so there is plenty of clearance.

If you need another pic, I can put the car in the air and take a pic with the inlet hat on and show you.

So this isn't new news. I recall what the truck inlet looks like, I can envision that. Might hafta go ahead and do that. Thanks for the input

Like I said, it fits perfectly fine. Not sure if you're running a D1/P1 or an F1, but that extra bung is I think for an extra cooler, like a trans cooler or power steering, so just capping it is fine.

Well...see...that's the thing. I have an 8 rib P1sc...and there is no way to get the radiator in place with the inlet hat on. The inlet hat is in the way of that nipple.

Like I said, I have an F1, with an 8-rib, and it sticks out further from the engine than the D1/P1 does. What inlet hat are you trying to use?

I dunno, the standard one from procharger a few years ago. Also, as I'm running the twin intercoolers, I can't run the truck inlet.

I've long admired your car and your work btw. Impressive machine.

Why did you cut the radiator support?

Because I cut it prior to putting the fan shroud or inlet hat on. I thought I was going to need to cut it for clearance. Needless to say, I didn't. Fortunately, it didn't impact the integrity of it, it just doesn't look pretty.

Guess it's true, should always measure twice, cut once.

It's not a matter of putting one on and then the other, it's a matter of one OR the other--one interferes with installing the other no matter which is installed first. That nipple wants to be in the same spot as the inlet hat.

It's all good, I came up with a solution on my own.

Awake455, do you have any pics of the solution?
