Default Cleaning the Intercooler?

I dont know if the intercooler has been clean, I guess it is possible for the tiny fins to get clogged up with dirt and bugs. Is it possible to just use some A/C cleaner for it to be more effective? Suggestions?

Could I gain possibly more boost from doing this?

Just like a radiator. The more airflow the better it will perform. We have got the invasion of the grasshoppers here in kansas. Radiators are all plugged.

I use water and compressed air to clean radiators. Shoot water with some pressure from the back side and then follow with compressed air from the back side. So blow everything to the front. And yes, it will help you if its dirty now to get it clean.

Dont use a power washer though as you will easily damage the fins.

If you wanted to remove the cores, you could let them soak in some soapy water first which would help dislodge any dirt/bugs prior to blowing from the rear. Obviously dont let any dirt get inside the unit

Off the car, and it's time to wash the crud out of the tubes. I use Purple Stuff, full strength.

nice!!

The worst is when you lose a motor and have an intercooler full of oil. Thats fun to clean.

For oil inside just fill it with engine de-greaser or brake cleaner etc, give it a good slosh about then hose it out after.

There should be a write up of hidden horsepower on these procharged vehicles. The previous owner must not have took care of it this way.

So you could imagine the air it is sucking in and particles picking up from the road. The fins get clogged and not efficent as before. Now much more colder air running into the intake.
