Why not run 100% E85 since its available and you have a truck to haul around a few 5 gallon jugs should they be needed?

It's a regulator. I've replaced a bunch of them with leaking diaphragms.

You can run that same Walbro 450 pump with a 20V Boost-A-Pump, that's the setup I'm running in my truck and there is more than 1 guy on here using that to over 750whp on E85. That doesn't solve your injector issue. The Colorado assembly is huge just like the 04+ 1/2 ton trucks and can easily hold a 2nd Walbro 450 if you decided to go dual pump, as I'm sure you saw. I'm certainly no one to give advice, I just noticed that E85 might have saved 2 of these motors?

It does not appear to me that he has been ever interested in saving motors.

I would guess denmah just has the reference line removed. So no vacuum or boost applied means 58psi all the time as measured at the rail.

And roughly 41psi delta across the injector with 17psi boost in the manifold.
I never mess with truck motors so good to know.

That is sweet, awesome that it is squared away. Would you mind describing the boost creep issues you were having before you welded the second gate onto the exhaust housing? What springs do you have in the gates?

Nice, glad to hear it's doing well. Can't wait to see some track times.

first setup with 7875 was consistent flat boost, until i turned it up at the track and then it ran away and let go, that didnt happen on the road *traction and didnt happen on the dyno *not enough load im guessing

when i got the bigger turbo it would creep on the dyno 8-12 psi on the same 6lb spring

when i tried to turn it up, any amount of additional boost would make it runaway into boost cut, so it would just take off, and the gate wide open in the crossover wasnt enough to level it off

put the one in the turbine housing only and it can hold 6lbs with no creep

didnt really get to test it yet with the good tire at the track but i would like to add boost and see how it comes up and if its linear with just the one. i havent removed the other gate yet it is just pressurized from the top and holding itself shut basically, so if i need both its there.

Attachment 721576

i thought i had posted this already earlier in the thread but it is many pages

top is creep master gate in the crossiver only and bottom is highway pulls with WG in turbine only

Based on your experience here, I'm ditching my single gate in the crossover idea for now. Looks to me like the required reversion on the passenger side exhaust just isn't reliable enough. I guess I'll just have an atmo dump WG off of a bend on the the up-pipe for now. It will have fantastic WG priority, so I think it will at least have solid boost control.

It's kind of handy that you knock out 4 or 5 setups in the time it takes me to build one... Lol

Housing mount WG is cool and all, but far from necessary to control boost easy. As long as the gate is parallel with flow at the turbo entrance and there is a 45/90 at the junction before the flange it will work just fine. Similar to this…

Putting it on the 90 at the cross over with a log setup is only going to vent half the banks properly and is pretty far from ideal.

I could make 8-26lbs easy with 1 44mm gate setup properly on a 5.3. That’s on an 8lb spring, I’m sure I could have made less with a lighter spring. I'm sure a 38mm gate would work just fine for most if setup correctly.

That's almost exactly what I'm going to have now. It won't lend itself to recirculation with the other constraints of this car, but I guess I'll just go without that for now...

Just for the fun of it, I'm going to see if I can fit my eBay 60mm WG on it since I had a new valve guide installed in it by the local sprint car engine shop. It functions quite smoothly now, and it doesn't exhaust the diaphragm pressure so fast anymore. Still doesn't work as nicely as a Tial, but I think it's workable now and I want to find out. Or I could put my Tial 38 on there if I run into too big of space constraints, and I agree that it will probably work. But what fun would that be? Lol

Matt - Cant you set up MS3 for overboost protection? Cut spark if you exceed a given boost pressure? This would have saved that 6.0 when it took off at the track

It does have overboost protection, plus AFR, low voltage, low fuel pressure, low oil pressure, etc.

I believe he disabled the protection prior to the run.
