Default home made turbo headers?

getting ready to make some turbo headers for my s10 with a single. any advice or tips? I'm guessing we will need to use 1 7/8? how long should they be? should we step them to a bigger size?

1 5/8 - 1 3/4 is big enuf. Helps to keep the gas velocity up.
2 - 2 1/4 on the x over is gtg..

using stainless or mild? i just built a set for my 93 s10 using "weld ells" i used 1 1/2 primaries and a 2 inch log. the 1 1/2 is actually like 1 5/8 inside, and the 2 inch is really like 2 1/4 inside. its just how they rate the pipe. its schedule 10 which is a pretty thick wall tubing, about .1 thick. basically what old geezer suggested, you dont need or want huge size pipe in the hot side, a 2 1/4 crossover has suppoeted something like 2000hp. heres some pics, i think they came out pretty nice. cant want to see more custom s10 stuff!!

You can use the stock truck manifolds and weld a vband as a starting point for the merge, much easier IMO

those look really good! what kinda time do you have in those? i probably have 15 hours in mine. if i had to do it over, i think headers with collectors would be much easier.

is there any advantage between a log style vs a collector style header? I was thinking about building a collector style but every one seems to lean towards the log style.

Took me about 14 hrs. I bought a plasma at the end to speed things up. Now could do them in probably a few hrs less time now that I have that.
