1998 Z28 LQ9/80e precsion 76/75 huron v1 build thread 9.89@137!!
Finally got the car together and made it to the dyno and track. The car paint and body is pretty rough but it's my first car so I never sold it. I blew up the cam/head/nitrous combo after swapping to e85 with the stock returnless fuel system and a 78 jet..... Bad idea. I decided to go back to the turbo world. Car has a stock 06 180k mile LQ9. Painted the shortblock and installed a JFR 221 cam and PAC 1218s. Otherwise engine is stock.
Car had a t56 originally. I didn't like it with the first turbo setup so I got a junkyard 80e and installed a transgo shift kit. Also installed a PTC 3600 converter, best decision ever. Got a couple of pics from the swap.
I didn't want my trans cooler in the front with all the heat there already. I decided to mount it under the trunk. Temps stay around 170 degrees on the dyno and track with out a fan on it. I also run John Deere hy-gard in it. I was told cooler is off a power stroke.

Turbo kit is the huron v1, which fits perfectly. Cold side is a Cx racing kit which I had to cut up so I could mount the 4 inch intercooler where I wanted.
Fuel system consists of an areomotive 340 and walbro 400 in the stock 98 tank, which barely fit. Dual -6 feed lines and the stock evap line as the return, and 80lb injectors. Has worked good so far me.
Car has an s60 with 3.55s. I run it at the track on a 26 inch m and h slick. Car also has bilstien coil overs in the front with 300lb springs. BMR torque arm and trans cross member. Car is on 10 psi and 20ish degrees of timing.
Had to work late on race evening and did not get the 2 step installed. Ended up with a 10.98 @129 off the trailer, then they closed the track and the DA right at 6000. Im estimating the car weighs 3700 lbs with me it, will confirm with scale soon.

Once you get the beads on you will be golden. 90* bends / couplers + no beads is a ticking time bomb with boost. Just bound to slip off. How do you like that turbo btw? Thinking of throwing one on my junk yard build.

I love the turbo. It's the best small frame turbo for the buck IMO. The gt45 of course would out perform it but that's a big job to fit it in an f body. I had turbonetics 78/75 on a previous build and I think it sticks with it no prob. But I think it'll prolly be out of steam at around 14-15 psi on a 6.0. Ya time for some bead couplers

Well I finally got around to making an Exhaust for the car. Did a lot of research and couldn't come up with many people adding an exhaust the huron kits. It's not perfect but it's not too bad for homemade. It's muxh quiter now. My neighbors will diffenatly be happy ha.

What kind of miles have you put on since you have put all together? Why did you decide to swap to an auto did it boost better or just constancy? I'm looking into going the same route with mine.

I got about 1500 miles on the setup. I went auto because of consistency, easier on the drivetrain, and it just 60s so much better. Once you get a converter that's loose enough to footbrake some boost and holds the power on the big end, you can't beat at auto IMO. I'm lovin the swap so far and would never go back.

Got the new MTs on and they are BIG! Looks a lil overkill ha. The tire is pretty close to rubbing the rear fender but I think I can make it work. My lower control arms aren't adjustable so it will have to. Hopefully I can see some low 1.5 high 1.4 60s!

Also had a failed eBay map sensor. I was logging the car and the map pressure would drop to 1.5 psi and jump back up and run like crap. Removed the top of the sensor and found the solder had failed on the terminal. But the guy warrantied it and we're back to running!
