Default LS7 single s480 cam info

Hey guys been a long time member .but never post .
I'm starting a new build on my C5 z06 .im just collecting all the parts before
We start the turbo kit build . The car was previously supercharged with a YSI A&A kit. 854whp @16psi .i decided to finally stop watching youtube to hear the beautiful sound of a single turbo ls lol so the ysi kit was sold .

Edit :my current cam specs are 239/253. 638/638 115+4
I pretty green when it come to cam specs .but from my tuner words . It's big lol

The LS7 is fully built 9.75 comp

Eldebrock heads Cnc
Darton sleeved block
Manley crank and rods
Wiseco pistons
Arp l19 studs

I'm waiting to get the specs of the big blower cam that instal in the motor right now .from what I've been reading it would be a big mistake to not change the cam for a good turbo cam

Turbo Is a standard s480 t6 .1.32 ar .i went with this turbo cause I got a smoking deal on it and if it doesn't meet my goals I'll sell it and buy something fancy lol.

Car is a 6speed tremek6060 .looking to be @850-900whp on pump fuel and meth (91oct ) .also do you guys think this setup will be lazy on the street ? Motor revs till 7000rpm

My old setup

I would inquire with either Lil Jon or Martin Smallwood. I'm sure either can get you going in the right direction.

I've always found that people go too big in the cam on turbo LS motors.

I've got a 383 LSX, stock 241's, stock LS1 inlet, S400sx3, makes 1005 rwhp on 28psi, about 900 rwhp on 19psi. Cam is only a baby compared to what most others around here seem to run. Mine is a 227/223@115. Idles and drives like a stocker, which is a pretty big deal for me being a 6 speed street car too.

There is obviously gains to be had by swapping it out, but it makes plenty of power for an M6 Street car, and has impeccable manners. What's the intended use for your car?

Aside from my thoughts, do whatever Martin from Tick says, his results speak for themselves. (I've honestly thought about consulting him for a cam even though I've deemed it completely unnecessary in my case)

As for your original question, I don't know what size cam you should run, but the one you mentioned does sound a little big.

i agree with having too much cam is not great for a street car . the cam i have now is very agressive to drive with . the car is 90% street car . once the car is built and proven reliable on the street. i do have a drag pack with new slicks that are begging for a beating at the track

With the M6, on a smaller engine I'd go with a tighter hot side...sacrifice some power up top for spool, but you said LS7, so a 427 isn't small...that should certainly help with spool...but I still think you might see some lag between gears. I don't think it'll be brutal, but you might want to look into the other housing options for the 96mm wheel S480. I think there's a 1.10 available.

I have an S480 80mmX118mm Compressor and 96mm hotside. Its a Billet wheel with the new T6 1.58ar backside and ill let you know now it spools instantly. I have it fender mounted on my C6 Z06 13.1 Compression 427 on E85. The 1.58 will also help with backpressure since its not as tight. If you have any questions you can send me a PM.

At the moment it has 2 44mm MVR's on 4psi springs. its getting tuned this weekend at Real Street Performance so we will find out soon. It made 640whp N/A.

What cam are you running right now?

I cut it down but no it actually doesn't. I drive with the windows down and it's fine.

I believe I hold the highest dyno for a Stock Internal LS7 video below has the results and an s480 works fine on 427ci.
