Default Overheating issues

Ive got a 408 with a F1A, 16 & 8" spal fans. normal, everyday driving in these texas temps, it runs 200-210 with AC on. I took off on a 65 mile drive this past weekend at 500 with the sun going down and while driving 75. The temp kept going up and up. I finally got off on an exit, and of course it went down. Took off back on the interstate and it stayed at 220 the rest of the way. What is causing this? Wouldn't it overheat on stop and go driving instead of highway driving? Im open to trying anything.

Stupid question, but are you sure your fans are spinning correctly?

220 isn't really overheating. Water doesn't boil in your coolant system until it hits 250+. Lots of OEM cars run 220-230 degrees.

do you have the fans on the same side or one pusher one puller? I found out the hard way that when you do the one on each side thing it causes turbulence in between them and prevents proper airflow. one good fan as big as you can fit with a good shroud is your best bet.

fans are on the same side. Both are puller fans. I dont mind 220, Im just confused at why it runs 200* in stop and go traffic, but when I get on the interstate at 75-80, it overheats.

Also, it just started this last week.

Do you still have the airdam on under your car? That will cause it to not cool properly on the highway.

That is probably why it is running warm on the highway. 220 is really not overheating like said before though.

Bingo ^^^^

I removed the plastic dam when I had the twin procharger coolers. Had the same issues, just not as hot because I live in a cool climate. Get a dam on there and you'll see the temps go down.

Did you cut the bottom of your bumper for your front mount or did you leave the 3 holes and the bottom in tack ???
