Default 7 second 2015 Drag Week car ready for September!

I just finished this project up and getting ready for Drag Week 2015. After only a hand full of test passes in bad air (DA 6100’) It’s already in the 7’s at 180 MPH. I fell pretty good once I get some chassis tuning done it will go mid-7’s pretty easy, even with my very small but street friendly 235 duration, .619” lift cam and a tight converter.

Note, this is not a gutted or light weight Coupe. Full interior except for the back seats, factory doors and glass, even power windows and a trailer hitch. Only aftermarket panels are the hood and the nose cover. And the nose cover was only added to provide clearance for the air/water intercooler.

A big shout out goes to ERL performance for the best LS series parts in the business! I've been using their blocks for years so if was the natural choice for this project. It has a Super Deck 1 block with a Callies BBC rod pin crank, Callies Ultra billet rods and custom Ross pistons for a very solid foundation. So far I’ve pushed it to around 1500 HP and it has not missed a beat!

Below is a test pass video and the time slip. Please wish me luck this year in my class at Drag Week, I’ve been looking forward to this trip since I started this project last year.

Thanks! It’s 417” LS engine with a front mounted air/water intercooler. All the suspension parts are Race Craft stuff, front and back. Here are some links to a more detailed build photo pages but you’ll have to wade through them because this is the 3rd engine configuration. LOL.

Yes, a motor plate allowed me to drop the engine as far a possible. The turbos are Precision billet 76mm.

Oh, I almost forgot, to get extra clearance, I turned the T/B upside down. :-)

That's a stunning engine bay! Any reason for going gas rather than methanol fuelled like the big boys are doing?

Since Topeka heartland park is closed, are they going to include a different drag strip?

Very nice build and car. Good luck at Drag week. It inspires me to get my truck done sooner. Small tire and all stock body and interior.

I'm not in the Unlimited class and I wanted something that would run on standard pump gas... even 87 octane.

FYI

Owner went bankrupt and city would not buy track from him.. Now it sits vacant with weeds growing up fast. Citizens sit with municipal bonds............

Tracks this year are St Louis, Indy, Great Lakes dragway, Cordova.

I'll be there in my turbo truck, can't wait.

Good luck at Drag week. I believe you should have something for them running that strong already. Clay's builds are always very detailed and well thought out just like this one.
I may have to catch you at Indy when the schedule is certain.
