rear mount TT
Hi all,
Need input on my new project, my car is a 57 Chevy Bel air 2dr post, with Car Creations chassi with Corvette C4 front and rear suspension, engine 5.3 L33 trans 4l80e fully manual (paddle shifters) and I am thinking of having rear mount twin turbos the reasons are, keeping the heat out of engine bay,( going to do track days so heat will be an issue) and I could probably use a smaller inter cooler, and a lot less plumbing under the hood, looking for 600-700 rwhp, how much power will I loose if any compare to front mount? will turbo lag be an issue? and what are pros and cons front vs rears?
Thanx
AE

Thanks for reply, I was under the impression that two smaller turbo will have less lag then one larger, I am new to this (turbos) and I have been reading posts on rear mounts, is there a formula what sizes to use singles vs twins? turbo lag is my biggest concern.
thanx

You won’t lose any power with a rear mount, just response. (lag) If you want it to be responsive for your goals I’d suggest the T3 .63 GT35’s with 60mm compressors. Run 2” piping back to the turbos and 2” charge piping to the IC. Keeping the piping small will help tremendously with lag. You should also wrap the hotside to help hold in heat. The closer you get the turbos to the engine the more responsive the kit will be.
