Default Thinking about picking up this 76mm turbonetics

I've got a 98 ls1 Trans am, ls6 block, 243 ported heads. Currently has the on3 76mm turbo kit on it. My buddy has a 76mm turbonetics .81 ar and .96 on exhaust side I believe. Just wondering if it would be worth it to swap it out, or if id see any gains at all.

basically the exact same turbo unless you get the turbonetic 7875 which had a 75mm turbine.

Was just thinking about upgrading to a better turbo this winter. Seems to quite for a turbo car, can barely hear it. Thought about maybe running the wastegate back into the exhaust as well

are you maxing out your current turbo? not sure what the goal is to justify the upgrade.

No, not maxing it out. You can hardly hear the turbo spool, even with cutout open. Sounds nothing like my friends precision turbo, but he also paid a pretty penny for it too.

Just for reference my TC78 is quiet too but once I put the hammer down and get into boost and wastegate opens it sounds like all hell is breaking loose in the front of the car lol.

Even when I get in it, still pretty quite. Could sound different outside the car tho, need to get a video of it.

Tturbo noises are mainly from the compressor configuration.

you're friends precision most likely has the antisurge housing, almost sure the HKS T51R started this trend, designed to make lot of noises as well as to be functional
