Default Boosted 408 block selection?

I have been collecting parts for my 408 for a while and I have a stock 6.0 iron block but have been thinking the money I have in the rotating assembly I'm not sure I want to put it all in a stock block.
So that being said I am looking for so suggestions on other blocks and how you guys like them.

For parts I have.
Wiesco pistons
Callies dragonslayer
Callies ultra I beams
Tfs gen x 255 heads
Moroso oil pan and pump

Thanks for the help,
Jesse

How much power? If much over 1000 then might as well get 6 bolt stuff. Lot of my local buds use the gm lsx block and like it

Nothing really wrong with the stock block. What do you feel is wrong with one that a more expensive item will improve ?

Well I bought the block from summit racing and it came with all the machine work already done. I've been told your suposed to have the pistons when you do the work to get the clearance right. Plus my heads are 6 bolt so I figured maybe I should just get the block to match. As for a power level as much as I can squeeze out of it on e85 would love to make over 1000. And I saw a few posts about the 6.0 cylinder walls cracking.

For sure you need to take the block to a machine shop with your stuff and have it checked out. No sense in just throwing it together, hoping for the best, then scraping a project cause it was the worst.

You didn't say what type of power adder you are going to use to reach 1000+, but I can share this.......I currently run a stock iron block 408 with a big procharger to make this type of power and have a stupid amount of money and modifications done to the block in an attempt to get it to live for more than 35 passes without the need to address head gasket issues. Granted I'm a little harder on my stuff than most as I am attempting to propel a 4100+ lb brick into the 8 second range. That said:

Turbos will help you make more power with less trouble as you don't have to give up the power that it takes to turn the procharger. In my case, if I was using a turbo to make 1100 hp, I'd need to make 1400 hp with the procharger to be comparable because the blower I run sucks up about 250-300 horsepower to turn.

Just my .02. You can keep the change if there is any.

That's why you need to wise up and get rid of that parasite of a power adder.. That ******* charger causes way more issues than it's worth.

I have most of the stuff to be able to measure the piston to wall clearances and out of round is there anything else I should check? And if I keep the stock block I was reading about a guy that used an erl girdle and block filler was close to 2000hp but this is a street car so the block filler wouldn't be practical do you guys think it would live with just the girdle for my power goals? Or should I just go with an aftermarket block the money I have in to it so far I don't want to have an issue with the block and ruin it all.
It is a turbo car.

You can get a newer generation LSX block, and get it machined for ~$3000 more, and be a hell of a lot more capable. If in a year you want to go with more boost then it's already able to withstand it. Just my two cents.

It's a no brainer. He has a summit block there.

Sell that and he into the LSX for dirt

That summit block will need machine work to be correct for a build of that magnitude... Or should

A buddy of mine just split the cylinder wall on in his fresh 408 6.0L Iron Block. I think he's using a billet 84MM PTE and around 20 lbs of boost. Not sure who does the tuning but he's no stranger to the game so I don't think he got to greedy with the tune, just a weak liner. Sell the Summit block and go LSX and don't lose sleep at night lol.
