Why do people insist on over boring their blocks for boost?

Unless you need it to clean up the cylinder walls, its not really worth it.

I've just found a deal on a LS3 block and its already bored to .10 over just trying to figure out if its something I can use or if I should just pass it up.

Texas Speed builds these often. Spoke to them they suggested the max bore they recommend for boost is 4.080 as long as you keep power at under 750-800rwhp or 900-1000 at the flywheel. I'm in the same situation have a spare LSA block that's at 4.075. My engine builder said at under 800rwhp I'll be fine all day long

Thats what I was thinking, I've heard ever since I started to fool with LS motors that you didn't want to bore a aluminum LS block past .10 over. I was just needing some imput on what some of the guys on here have tried and had good luck with. Thanks for the info.

Buying a bored block sounds stupid. Is it finished honed exactly around there or where? Do u k ow what piston you are using and what they call for ptw? If finished honed already was it TQ plate honed? If so with the same fastener u are using??

you are correct I think I'll just buy a new LS2 block that way I want have to worry if its cracked or if the ptw clearance is correct I was wanting to build a forged LS3 with a 4" stroke and put a LSA supercharger on it but I'm thinking the LSA 1.9 blower is gonna run out of air with a 416 cubic inch motor. What about with a 403 ci you think the blower would be ok with it.

Isn't that part of buying anything used? Sometimes you score sometimes you get raped.

Default 1500hp capable and reliable?

I'm just researching here. I want to get a grand total of around 1500hp out of a F2 procharged (20-30psi), nitrous (50-150 shot) ls3. I'd like to go with bored out and stroked but still want to reliably drive the car on weekends and whatnot (nitrous is for the track obviously). Any pointers/tips? All information is helpful

Get a LSX block, most people are not making that kind of power on 4 bolt heads You need to do some google research IMO before going down the road of a 1500hp build.

I have an LS3 stroker bored to 4.092" (bores needed to be cleaned up) with an F1A procharger and about 1000 crank hp and its fine. Block was machined by Horsepower Research in McKinney, TX. They build some serious ****
