Default 8.29@163 sbe 4.8 f.i. billet 76mm notch

*updates on page 3 with track video and dyno sheets*
Dont post too much but after this weekend I was pretty happy with the numbers my car made and wanted to share. The set up is in a notch that previously weighed in at 2900 with me in it. When I previously I mean before it had no intercooler and a meth injection setup. So I am going to guess in the range of 3000-3050 with me in it now.

Setup

2007 4.8 engine from a silverado with 160+k miles I was told.
Holley hi ram with custom plenum top.
90mm throttle body
custom turbo cam
tooley springs and pushrods
arp head studs
ljms cometic head gaskets
custom turbo kit and intercooler kit
a/w intercooler
c16 fuel
160 lb holley injectors
magnafuel pump
Holley hp efi
leash boost controller
powerglide trans
ptc converter
9in rear with 3.50 gears.
21/22 psi final

I have to tie up a few odds and ends, map sensor went bad for the boost controller, rad cap was no good, and need to install my parachute cable and off to the track for me. Hope to take the sbe 4.8 engine record in the 1/4, so face the best I could find was a 8.8x something from a datsun. If anyone knows of something faster I would appreciate a link or some info!!

I attached a video and the graphs with 3 different correction factors all well over 800 whp.

This should be good. How high are you going to spin it? You can really let that turbo work with the 4.8.h

I took it to 7200 on the dyno. Higher boost power was dropping off. Either valve springs or hot side on the turbo. No need to go higher at the moment and converter is plenty tight atm

Very nicely laid out setup! Pretty mild cam? Do you mind sharing the specs? I've yet to see a turbo 4.8 continue making power to 7k+ where I think they should. Curious what the major limiting factor is.

The hot rod 4.8 turbo build used a 228/230 @112 .57X lift. NA power peaked around 7k. (LSxR Fast intake)

I either ran into a exhaust wheel back up or a valve spring not being tough enough. I have attached lower boost pulls and the car would pull all the way out. Once the power started to build....along with boost it started to drop off up top. I really feel I was running into a back pressure issue as my c02 psi very boost gained was getting heavily dependent on co2 the higher I got.

If your billet 76 has a 92mm t6 1.1 turbine, I doubt you hit ex back pressure issues. I run the same turbine on my 6.0 and it pulls clean and hard through 7500 at beyond 800rwhp. I dyno'd the car at 800rwhp, and have run 8psi more through it without it dropping off....
those graphs sure look like the valve springs are out of control to me too

Love me some four point great action. Speaking of radiator caps, where did you put the rad on this car?

Here are two 5.3's we built in house.

One is our shop car with a L33 SBE, 799's, Pro Flo, Glide and a S471 Borg Warner T6 1.32 96mm unit with our Stage 3 5.3 Turbo Cam. 223/227 .620/.600 114+3. Fuel is M1 an no IC. These pulls were on 14psi.

Other is a customers car with a LM7, 862's, C16, no intercooler, TH400 and a High Ram. Same cam, same turbo. These pulls were on 16psi.

Both made power to 7k on other pulls where we shut down the pulls due to SBE and not wanting to push them harder with more revs.

Interestingly enough we also tested a smaller cam in the shop car with the same IC and EO events, but with 8 degrees less overlap. Unfortunately we never got to see what that cam would really do. We had a boost leak and once we found it, our manual controller settings were a bit generous. It made 25+psi and windowed the block at 5800rpm!

Sorry for the hi-jack OP. On another note, what lifters are you running? Do you know where your springs are installed currently? What are the cam specs?

Don't hurt my feelings none, I love info so post away lol. I tried to attach the cam card from my phone so bare with me. The cam came in the engine that had a spun bearing when I bought the car. Along with the valve springs which I was told were Brian tooley springs. But this is what I'm "told" and can not verify for sure at the moment l.

Had any factory intake 5.3/4.8 setups still pulling strong up to or past 7k?
